Universal AI University (UAi), India’s first university dedicated entirely to artificial intelligence and future technologies, has announced a significant academic collaboration with Cambridge University Press & Assessment’s International Education division. The partnership aims to fast-track undergraduate education for students holding Cambridge A and AS Level qualifications by enabling up to 30% academic credit transfer—allowing eligible learners to complete their undergraduate degrees six months earlier than the conventional academic route.
This strategic alliance is designed to align Indian higher education with global standards, expand academic mobility, and recognise international secondary school curricula within Indian universities. Located in Karjat near Mumbai, UAi is well-known for its focus on AI-driven education and innovation in technology-integrated academic programs. The partnership will allow the university to extend its reach to a global pool of high-performing students who have completed their A or AS Levels, especially those looking to pursue cutting-edge higher education in India.
Announcing the partnership, Tarundeep Singh Anand, the founder and chancellor of Universal AI University, stated, “Cambridge learners represent some of the brightest and most future-ready students globally. We will welcome them into our ecosystem through this pioneering initiative. By offering an accelerated pathway, we not only honour their academic excellence but also take a bold stride toward aligning Indian higher education with global best practices. This initiative creates new opportunities for ambitious students to thrive and lead with impact.”
The collaboration with Cambridge International is structured under the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) framework, which allows qualified students to earn up to 30% academic credit toward their undergraduate degrees at UAi. Students will thus be able to reduce the duration of their degree by approximately six months, enhancing both academic efficiency and career readiness.
Vinay Sharma, Senior Vice President for International Education at Cambridge University Press & Assessment, expressed confidence in the collaboration’s potential to drive academic innovation and global integration. “By recognising Cambridge Advanced qualifications for academic credits toward cutting-edge undergraduate degree programmes, UAi is enabling learners to capitalise on their Cambridge qualifications and accelerate their academic journey. Through this collaboration, UAi highlights its commitment to innovation and internationalisation in higher education,” Sharma said.
UAi offers a diverse and future-focused range of undergraduate degree programmes across engineering, business, psychology, music, and design, all with integrated applications of artificial intelligence. Among the standout offerings are the BTech in Computer Science Engineering with specialisations in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning and Data Science—courses that are run in partnership with tech giant LTI Mindtree. Another innovative offering is the BBA in AI, which aims to create leaders at the intersection of business and emerging technologies.
Students with creative inclinations can pursue degrees like the BDes with AI, offered in specialisations such as Product Design, Fashion Design, Communication Design, and Strategic Design Management. Those passionate about music and audio technology can enrol in the BTech in Sound Engineering or BA (Hons) in Audio & Music Production, developed in collaboration with SoundIdeaz Academy. UAi also offers a BSc in Psychology with AI, a unique interdisciplinary course that integrates behavioural science with data-driven technology and cognitive computing.
Eligibility criteria for the fast-track programmes are straightforward. Students with A Levels in any two subjects are eligible to apply to all undergraduate programmes, whereas those interested in BTech degrees must have studied both Physics and Mathematics at the A Level. The application process is conducted online under the Recognition of Prior Learning category. Applicants must upload academic transcripts and necessary documents, which will be assessed by the University Equivalence Committee. This committee will evaluate the eligibility of candidates, determine credit transfer applicability, and recommend suitable programme placements.
The newly announced academic credit transfer system not only benefits international students looking for quality education in India but also advances UAi’s mission of bringing world-class education closer to Indian soil. The institution, which operates with a vision of supporting India’s transformation into a knowledge economy, believes this partnership is aligned with the broader national goals of the “Viksit Bharat 2030” vision—an initiative aimed at transforming India into a developed nation by 2030 through innovation, education, and entrepreneurship.
Through this forward-thinking collaboration, Universal AI University has further strengthened its position as a trailblazer in the Indian higher education landscape. It reinforces its dedication to making global education accessible locally, empowering a new generation of AI-driven professionals, researchers, and creators. The initiative signals a powerful new direction for students who wish to shorten the duration of their undergraduate journey without compromising on academic depth or global relevance.
