The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has formally announced the results of the ICSE (Class X) and ISC (Class XII) 2025 exams. This year, the results have been made available on the CISCE website, www.cisce.org, and are also accessible through the DigiLocker Portal and the CAREERS Portal. A total of 99,551 candidates took the ISC exams and 98,578 of them passed, giving a pass percentage of 99.02%. The ICSE exams had 252,557 candidates take the exam and 250,249 of them passed, resulting in a pass percentage of 99.09%.

A more detailed analysis of the gender-wise performance shows that the girls performed better than the boys in both the ICSE and ISC exams. In the ISC exams, the percentage of passes by girls was 99.45%, against 98.64% for boys. Likewise, in the ICSE exams, girls recorded a pass percentage of 99.37%, whereas boys had a pass percentage of 98.84%. This pattern of girls performing better than boys was witnessed across all regions of India as well.

The regional-wise breakdown of ICSE results depicted remarkable regional variances in percentage passes. Western states such as Gujarat and Maharashtra registered the topmost pass percentage of 99.83%, with the second position being the Southern region’s 99.73%. With regard to the number of aspirants, the Northern region, which includes states like Uttar Pradesh and Punjab, received the largest number of entries, with over 84,000 candidates sitting for the examination. The lowest pass percentage was recorded by the Eastern region with only 93.39%, with fewer candidates from this region sitting for the examination.

For ISC, the Southern region took the lead once again with the highest pass percentage of 99.76%, followed by the Western region at 99.72%. The Northern region had the highest number of entries, with more than 46,000 candidates appearing for the examination. The foreign and Northeast regions had fewer representations but still maintained high pass rates, with the foreign region having a 100% pass rate.

This year’s results are particularly noteworthy because of the sustained performance of students from different states and regions. The CISCE has indicated that girls from the Southern region constitute the highest proportion of girls, accounting for 50.11% of the total candidates who appeared for the ISC exams. In the ICSE exams, the Southern region also recorded a high proportion of female candidates, with girls accounting for 49.58% of the total candidates.

The ICSE exam was administered in 67 subjects, with 20 Indian languages, 14 foreign languages, and a single classical language, while the ISC exam was administered in 47 subjects, with 12 Indian languages and four foreign languages. Both examinations offered a wide range of subject options to cover the different learning needs of students nationwide.

Results can be obtained by students online from the CISCE’s CAREIES Portal or through DigiLocker. In order to access the results, candidates have to provide their Unique ID, Index Number, and CAPTCHA as required. For obtaining a physical copy, a ‘Print’ option can be found on the results page.

CISCE has also offered a rechecking option to students for their results. The recheck facility will be offered from April 30, 2025, to May 4, 2025. No more rechecks will be done after that. If students are not content with their recheck results, they can apply for re-evaluation of their answer scripts. This re-evaluation facility will be offered for three days from the date of announcement of recheck results.

Further, those students who want to enhance their marks can appear for the Improvement Examination, which would be held in July 2025. Information about this examination will be posted shortly on the CISCE website.

This year’s results demonstrate the ongoing excellence and resilience of students nationwide, with girls taking the lead in both the ICSE and ISC exams. The high pass rates in different regions show the overall success of the examination system in India, and students can now look forward to their future, whether it’s further studies or preparing for their careers.
