MCC Opens NEET PG 2024 Special Stray Round Registrations

Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has initiated the special stray vacancy round of NEET PG 2024 with registration, giving candidates a second chance to gain admission into postgraduate medical courses. As many as 733 seats have been filled, and interested candidates can now register on the official website, mcc.nic.in. The window of registration is up to March 8, 2025, while the facility of payment will close at 2 pm on the same day. The choice-filling and locking facility will continue to be available up to March 10, 2025, at 8 am.
In order to be considered for this special round, the candidates should not have been already allotted or not have already joined any seat in the earlier NEET PG counselling rounds, either under the All India Quota (AIQ), state quota, or deemed university admissions. Candidates who have already secured and joined a seat in these rounds cannot apply. Also, applicants who were admitted in AIQ Round 3 or the previous stray vacancy round but failed to report will also be excluded from applying. At least 5% percentile in all categories has been fixed as the cut-off for this round.
Part of the process includes candidates applying for AIQ seats paying a refundable security deposit of ₹50,000, whereas those applying for deemed university seats have to pay ₹3,00,000. If the candidate is granted a seat but doesn’t join, their security deposit will be seized, and they will be barred from appearing in the NEET PG exam in the ensuing year. Those securing a seat must report to their designated institute with original documents and complete the admission formalities within the given timeframe.
Further, the MCC has informed that the list of candidates who are to be given seats in the AIQ special stray vacancy round will be communicated to state counselling authorities. These candidates will not be permitted to appear in any state-level special stray vacancy round. Candidates have to give an undertaking on the MCC portal during the choice-filling process to ascertain their participation.
With the competitive environment of medical admissions, this special stray vacancy round presents an important chance for deserving candidates who have not yet been granted admission.
