MBU Holds National Conference on AYUSH & Holistic Healthcare

Mohan Babu University (MBU) successfully hosted the two-day National Conference on Integrating AYUSH with Community Medicine (IACMI-2026), sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). Organised by the Mohan Babu School of Pharmaceutical Sciences under the theme “A Framework for Holistic and Sustainable Public Health in India,” the conference brought together experts, academicians, researchers and healthcare professionals from across the country to deliberate on integrating traditional AYUSH systems with community medicine to strengthen preventive, promotive and sustainable healthcare in India.
The conference was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Ramachandra G. Reddy, MD & CFO, Glory Pharma Chem India, and Guest of Honour Dr. M. Niranjan Babu, EC Member, Pharmacy Council of India, and Founder and Chairman, Seven Hills College of Pharmacy, Tirupati. Their participation added valuable perspectives to discussions around the role of traditional healthcare systems, pharmaceutical sciences and contemporary approaches in strengthening public health.
Discussions at IACMI-2026 explored how AYUSH systems can complement community medicine in strengthening primary, preventive and promotive healthcare, with discussions coveringthe management of non-communicable diseases, maternal and child health, adolescent health, mental well-being, healthy ageing and geriatric care. Participants also examined the role of community participation, health education and digital solutions such as Tele-AYUSH in improving access to healthcare, particularly at the community level. The discussions further looked at One Health, environmental sustainability and the potential of AYUSH to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)through preventive care, community-based interventions and sustainable health practices.
The two-day conference also featured expert sessions by a distinguished panel of resource persons, including Dr. Renu Dixit, Professor and Medical Superintendent, Sri Venkateswara Ayurvedic Medical College, Tirupati; Dr. S. Sreenivasulu, Senior Scientist and Head, RASS-KVK, Tirupati; Dr. S. Rajan, Senior Scientist and Head (Retd.), Centre of Medicinal Plants Research in Homeopathy, Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, Ooty; Dr. P. Sathiya Rajeswaran, Assistant Director, Siddha and Scientist IV, Siddha Regional Research Institute, Puducherry; Prof. N. Savithramma, Retired Professor, Department of Botany, Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati; and Dr. P. Siva Santhosh Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Community Medicine, Sri Padmavathi Medical College for Women, Tirupati.
