USLA-GGSIPU, JNU Host EU-funded Conference On India-Europe Cultural Ties

University School of Liberal Arts (USLA), Guru Gobind Sing Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), Dwarka, in collaboration with the Jean Monnet Project (ACE) 2020-2023, funded by EU, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), successfully organised a two-da international conference on the theme “Art, Culture and Values in India and Europe: Exchanges Influences and Evolving Dynamics” under the convenorship of Dr Sheetal Sharma, Associat Professor, CES, JNU and Prof. Queeny Pradhan, In-Charge, USLA.

The conference wa inaugurated with a compelling address by former Indian Ambassador to EU, Manjeev Singh Puri He noted that India leads not only in size but also in economic significance. Furthermore, h highlighted the global cultural impact of Indian traditions such as yoga and cuisine and argue that realpolitik is deeply connected with culture and values Eminent academicians and artists like Prof. Molly Kaushal, Prof. Rajeev Lochan, Prof. Manindr Nath Thakur, Dr Chakraverti Mahajan, Prof. N. Raghuram, Prof. Ajay Gudavarthy and Prof. Hila Ahmed addressed the three plenary sessions in the two days.

In addition to the plenaries, th conference featured a series of technical sessions where scholars and students from universitie across India presented papers. These 37 papers covered a wide range of topics—from historica interactions and intellectual exchanges to contemporary debates on culture, identity epistemologies and indigeneity etc.

The Conference ended with the special address of Prof Dhruv Raina and Valedictory Address by Ms. Maya Sherman, Innovation Attaché to the Israeli Embassy.
