Village & Town Development Key to a Developed India: Praveen Ramdas

The development of villages and towns is essential for achieving the goal of a developed India. Science and technology can play a significant role in this mission. Praveen Ramdas, National Joint Organization Secretary of Bijnana Bharati expressed these views. He was speaking at a program organized jointly by the University School of Basic and Applied Sciences, IP University and Indraprastha Vigyan Bharati on the occasion of National Science Day at the Dwarka campus.
He said that India has a glorious heritage in the field of science. It is not true that we learned science from the British. A lot of work has been done on this at the Indian Institute of Cultivation of Science in Kolkata. He said that science and technology have always been tools for development.
He emphasized the need to think about how the benefits of education can reach society and the nation.
Jitendra Kumar, Managing Director of BIRAC, Delhi, said on this occasion that not everything can be commercialized in this era. We need to seriously think about how science and technology can be used for the country’s progress.
He said that any country develops through innovation. Keeping this in mind, we need to focus on innovation. He said that universities are the most suitable places for the germination of entrepreneurship.
On this occasion, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Padma Shri Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Verma, said that we can become a developed nation only through innovation, global leadership, and youth empowerment. He said that the main purpose of science is the welfare of humanity. We have to move forward with this purpose.
On this occasion, Prof. V.K. Vijay, former Vice Chancellor of VGU, Jaipur, and Dr. Rama Jayasundar of AIIMS, Delhi, also delivered their lectures. Prof. A. Datta, Dean of the University School of Basic and Applied Sciences said that on this occasion, slogan writing, painting, poster presentation, science quiz, hackathon, etc. were also organized. He said that the theme of today’s program was – Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for a Developed India.
