Vivekanand Business School (VBS) organised a five-day Global Industry Immersion Programme in Thailand for 180 management students across different specialisations. The programme aimed to bridge classroom learning with practical business applications through industry visits, academic interactions and cultural experiences, offering students insights into international business practices and global industry operations.
As part of the programme, students visited Electrolux, Toyota, Yakult, and Ichitan to learn about global manufacturing practices, operational efficiency, quality management, and sustainability. They explored lean inventory management and sustainable engineering at Electrolux; the Toyota Production System and Just-in-Time inventory management at Toyota; quality control and hygiene standards at Yakult; and automated production and eco-friendly packaging at Ichitan. Students also attended a workshop on teaching and learning methodologies at Bangkok University, gaining international academic exposure and strengthening their understanding of cross-cultural collaboration and global business practices.
Sandeep Bhardwaj, Director, Vivekanand Business School, said, “Management education must go beyond classroom learning to help students understand how businesses operate in different markets and cultural environments. This international immersion programme provided students with an opportunity to observe global industry practices, understand operational challenges and engage with diverse perspectives. Such experiences are important in developing the critical thinking, adaptability and problem-solving skills required of future business leaders.”
Through initiatives such as the Global Industry Immersion Programme, VBS continues to emphasise experiential learning as an integral part of management education. By connecting management concepts with real-world industry practices and international exposure, the school aims to prepare students to navigate evolving business environments and respond effectively to the needs of industry and society.
