Rail India Technical and Economic Service (RITES) has issued the notification to recruit Senior Technical Assistants, providing 24 posts for candidates interested in applying. The application process is ongoing, and interested candidates can apply via the official website, rites.com. The application submission deadline is March 19, 2025, with tentatively scheduled issue of admit cards on March 20, 2025. The written examination for the recruitment process will be conducted on March 23, 2025.

As per the official advertisement, candidates should meticulously ensure that they possess the desired educational qualifications and appropriate work experience requirements. The candidates who do not fulfill the prescribed eligibility requirements will be disqualified at the point of joining to ensure that only appropriate professionals are appointed for these roles.

The posts are allocated among different categories with 12 under General (UR) category, 2 for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category, 6 for Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL) category, 3 for Scheduled Castes (SC) category, and 1 for Scheduled Tribes (ST) category. One vacancy is also kept reserved on a horizontal basis for a Person with Disability (PWD) under Category-C.

Applicants who seek the job of Senior Technical Assistant are required to meet the upper age bar of 40 years as of March 19, 2025, i.e., the closing date for submitting online applications.** A full-time diploma in Civil Engineering is required of the applicants who wish to become Senior Technical Assistant. In addition, they should possess a minimum of two years of post-qualification experience in a PSC sleeper plant (production, material testing, inspection, field quality inspection, quality assurance, or quality control) or two years of experience in reinforced cement concrete construction works.

As far as academic qualifications are concerned, candidates from General and EWS categories (and SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PWD candidates applying for unreserved vacancies) should have at least 50% marks in diploma. In case of candidates applying against reserved categories, the minimum percentage is 45%. Also, the diploma should be acquired from an AICTE/BTE recognized institution or a university incorporated by an Act of Central or State Legislature in India or other institutions recognized under the UGC Act, 1956.

If the mark sheet or diploma certificate of an applicant does not specify the first class/division or percentage, then a conversion formula from the concerned university or institution must be submitted. In the absence of a conversion formula, an undertaking needs to be filed, signed by a representative authorized by the university. In situations where the university hasn’t given a direct conversion, at least 6 on a scale of 10 will be equated as 60% marks. Also, note that training, internship, teaching, research work, fellowship, or PhD research experience cannot be regarded as work experience.

The process of selection shall be through a written test of 125 objective-type questions each with a one-mark value. The test lasts 2.5 hours, and there is no negative marking for wrong answers. Candidates from the PwBD category will get an extra 50 minutes of compensatory time. General and EWS candidates need to have a minimum score of 50% in the written test for further consideration, whereas the minimum cutoff for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD candidates who are applying for reserved vacancies is 45%. The written examination carries 100% weightage in the selection process and no interviews or other tests will be held.

The chosen individuals will be paid a salary package with a basic monthly pay of ₹16,338 and gross monthly salary of ₹29,735. This translates to a yearly cost to company (CTC) of ₹3,56,819. The ultimate salary can vary based on the location of posting and other employment terms.

RITES, a government undertaking in the field of infrastructure and transport consultancy, needs professionals for different project locations in India. The chosen candidates will be involved in technical support, maintaining quality standards in construction and production activities. With the growing need for infrastructure development in the nation, this recruitment campaign offers a great chance for engineering diploma holders with experience to find a secure and fulfilling government position.

With March 19, 2025, as the last date, interested candidates need to fill their applications in time and check their eligibility. The shortlisted candidates will then appear for the written test on March 23, 2025, and the final selection will be made. Candidates are requested to check the official RITES website for further information, application submission, and access to the official notification.
