CBSE Exam Update: Changes for 2023-24 and Future Sessions Revealed

Share

The long-awaited and popular board exams have started on February 15 as CBSE commenced the Class 10 and 12 exams. The board has implemented a range of changes, encompassing adjustments to the marking scheme and result disclosure.

Despite prior announcements by the Education Minister regarding two board exams, there are currently no official updates on whether these changes will take effect in the upcoming academic session, specifically for 2024-25 or beyond. The dissemination of these announcements through social media influencers and various portals has sown confusion among parents.

Breaking down the developments, let’s delve into the alterations introduced for the ongoing academic session (2023-24) and the prospective academic session (2024-25).

CBSE has introduced several changes, effective from the current academic session. Here is a detailed breakdown:

In a noteworthy move, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to discontinue the use of answer books containing tables for the Class 12 Accountancy paper. This decision, conveyed through a letter to principals of all CBSE-affiliated schools in October, will be implemented from the Board Examination in 2024. The official notification states that starting from Examinations-2024, normal lines Answer Books, consistent with other subjects in Class 12, will be provided for the Accountancy subject.

Formerly known as compartment exams, CBSE has rebranded special exams for students who face failure in one or more subjects as supplementary exams. Traditionally held in July, the results are expected to be released by August. This shift aligns with the recommendations outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

In response to numerous requests, CBSE has decided to facilitate special exams for students engaged in national or international sports events or international Olympiads. This provision aims to accommodate students who may be unable to appear for their CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 exams (scheduled for February-April) due to their active participation in these events.
