CBSE boards are to be held twice a year as per sources, this step is to ensure better opportunities for students.

According to Hindustan Times, NCF notified that the Central Board of Secondary Education boards will be held twice a year. The motive of this move is to provide students with options and to ensure they can get more opportunity to perform well.

The Education Ministry has asked CBSE to work out the logistics in order to conduct board exams twice from 2025-2026. There are discussions to be conducted by CBSE and the ministry with school authorities in order to understand this better.

Further, according to anonymous sources of PTI, the semester system has been ruled out. “The board is working out the modalities and a consultation will be organized next month with school principals,” the source said to PTI.

If the logistics work out and this system is rolled in, it is scheduled to be implemented in the 2025 academic year.
