Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), the premier state university of Delhi, has extended the deadline for receipt of applications for 18 Common Entrance Test (CET)-based programmes to April 18. The step has been taken as a move towards increasing number of requests being received from applicants who had not been able to meet the original deadline of April 11. The extension aims to provide every deserving candidate an equal chance of applying for his/her preferred courses and being included in the coming academic session.
The administration of the university has been proactive in responding to applicants’ grievances and providing more time to finalize the application. The action indicates the institution’s focus on student welfare and inclusivity, particularly since most students face technical or logistical challenges that make it impossible for them to apply within the set time.
The extended programs consist of a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in various disciplines like management, journalism, technology, and healthcare. The notable programs for which the deadline has been extended are the Master of Physiotherapy, B.Com (Honors), MA in Mass Communication, BA in Journalism and Mass Communication, and BBA and its allied programs, such as the integrated BBA-MBA. Other technical courses like M.Tech in Robotics and Automation (Regular), MS in Packaging Technology, and Lateral Entry to B.Tech (for diploma holder) are also included in this extension. Pure science and healthcare courses like MSc in Microbiology, MSc in Molecular Diagnostics, MSc in Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Design, and Para-Medical Programs are also included in the list. Moreover, the institution has rolled out extended deadline schedules for its four-year BA in English, M.Ed, PG in Applied Geo-Informatics, MPH (FE), and MS in Environment Management.
For ensuring a seamless and trouble-free admission process, the university has formed a seven-member high-level committee headed by the Director of Academic Affairs. The committee has been entrusted with the responsibility of addressing both offline and online grievances filed by applicants. It will investigate serious issues faced by candidates while applying and getting admitted and provide redressal at the earliest. This action highlights the university’s initiatives towards ensuring transparency and student-centricity in its admission processes.
Since they acknowledge the transition to digital mode in admission processes and the importance of user-friendly platforms, the university has also introduced technological support systems to facilitate applicants. Instant query resolution is provided through a dedicated chatbot service. Also, QR code-based access to vital admission-related information and application materials has been provided, facilitating students to manage the admission process more effectively.
Note that the extension only pertains to CET-based courses where the university administers its own entrance tests. In courses where admissions are based on National Level Tests or merit in the previous qualifying examination, the deadline for application remains April 30. These include courses like MBA, B.Arch, and B.Tech (on the basis of JEE scores), etc.
In addition to this, the university has provided provisions for applicants to correct errors in their online forms. Until April 14, there was a correction window for programs where the initial deadline was on April 11. For extended-deadline programs, along with those that were merit-based or national-level tests, the correction facility will open after the deadline for applications of each respective type. This move is important for students who might have committed unintentional mistakes in their application forms and now have an opportunity to correct them.
Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University continues to play a vital role in Delhi’s higher education landscape, offering professional and academic programs that are in high demand across the country. With this extension and the series of supportive measures taken, the university once again reiterates its focus on student accessibility, academic excellence, and institutional responsiveness.
Prospective applicants are urged to check the official university websites — http://www.ipu.ac.in and http://www.ipu.admissions.nic.in — for more information on eligibility criteria of the programs, application procedures, and key dates. With the extended deadline now scheduled for April 18, students now have another chance to advance their studies at GGSIPU.
