HPBOSE Releases Class 10, 12 Supplementary Datesheet

Share

The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) announced the date sheet of supplementary exams for Class 10 and Class 12 in its official announcement. The exams will be conducted in a single morning session, which would be a valuable chance for the students who had failed in certain subjects or who want to better their scores. The supplementary exams provide the students with an opportunity for a second bite of the cherry to gain academic achievement and proceed with their studies without wasting a year.

As per the July 14, 2025, notification issued by HPBOSE, Class 10 supplementary exams will take place from July 22 to July 29. Class 12 exams will conclude on July 28. All of these will be held in a single session, from 8:45 AM until 12:00 noon. The time schedule has been planned to enable simple conduct and provide an opportunity for the students to perform at their best in a regular routine.

The examination dates are applicable for students who had requested supplementary, compartmental, or improvement examinations following the announcement of annual results earlier this year. The window for application for these tests opened on June 10, 2025, and the deadline for submission without any additional fee was June 26. The normal application charge per candidate was ₹700. These tests provide students with an excellent chance to perform better, clear the subjects in which they had failed earlier, or simply perform better for better academic or professional opportunities ahead.

The date sheet is also available on the official website of HPBOSE—http://hpbose.org. The students can log in to the home page, go to the ‘Exams’ section, click on the ‘Datesheet’ option, and download the suitable Class 10 or Class 12 PDF file. The board has made the schedule easily available on the website for all the students so that they can prepare well in advance.

Excluding the date sheet, other exam admit cards will be published soon after completing and verifying the registration process. Students can download the admit card at the time of publication from the “Student Corner” page on the official website. Date of birth and name must be entered to access the document. Admit cards have to be brought to the exam center, and students have to hold on to them and bring a printed copy each day of the exam.

As per HPBOSE’s notification, the passing standards of supplementary exam remain the same as that of normal exams. Candidates have to secure a minimum of 30% marks in all the subjects for passing. The board will also announce the subject-wise passing standards when they announce the results to mark the passing standard for each paper.

This year, the performance of Class 10 and Class 12 passing results has been remarkable against last year. In Class 12, a total of 86,373 candidates appeared for the exam in March 2025. 76,315 candidates passed, increasing the pass rate significantly to 88.64% from 83.16% registered last year. However, 3,838 students were admitted to the compartment category, while 5,868 students scored below the passing grade and will be required to reappear through supplementary exams.

The Class 10 results also indicated an upward trend. 95,495 students took the exam in 2025, of which 75,862 passed and pushed the pass percentage to 79.8%. This is also an increase from last year’s 74.61% pass rate. Although the record has improved, quite a number of students—13,574—also failed, with 5,563 students being placed in the compartment category and eligible to sit for the supplementary exams.

HPBOSE’s move to release the date sheet in time and provide sufficient preparation time to students is indicative of the board’s interest in favor of students in studies. The extra exams not only offer a back-up but also help to curb dropout rates and ensure no student is demotivated by one failure at studies.

Less than fourteen days are left for the onset of the exams, and the students are asked to utilize their time effectively and revise loopholes. Teachers and school officials have also been told to provide required academic guidance to enable students to prepare well.

Since students are to take the exams in July, Himachal Pradesh Board has reiterated its concern for fair conduct, academic honesty, and timely notification so that the process of supplements is as streamlined and tension-free as possible.
