The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has opened the gates for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Super Speciality (NEET SS) 2024 counselling session. Those candidates who have successfully cleared the test can now advance with the registration process for getting admissions in super speciality courses of medicine through online registration. The counselling system will help get seats allotted for Doctorate of Medicine (DM), Master of Chirurgiae (MCh), and some Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) colleges.
This counselling process is a crucial step for candidates aiming to pursue higher medical education in India. The MCC, responsible for conducting centralized counselling for medical seats, will allocate seats based on the scores obtained by candidates in the NEET SS 2024 examination. The results of the counselling process are expected to be declared in the last week of May, adding to the anticipation for thousands of medical professionals awaiting their next academic move.
The NEET SS exam, which was earlier held this year, is the qualifying test for entry into super speciality courses offered in different medical colleges of the nation. Only candidates who have cleared the NEET SS 2024 successfully with scoring marks are qualified to take part in this counselling session. According to the official notice, the choice locking window — an important step where candidates confirm their desired courses and institutions — will be available on May 18, 2025, between 4 PM and 11:55 PM. The MCC will then analyze the choices, rank them based on merit, and announce the first round of seat allotment results on May 21, 2025.
In exchange for attending the counselling, the candidates need to make sure that they have all the documents they need and scanned in the proper format to upload during the time of registration. The documents needed are the NEET SS 2024 admit card, NEET SS 2024 result, MBBS degree certificate, and the postgraduate degree certificate in the speciality concerned (MD, MS, or DNB). In addition, a permanent or provisional registration certificate issued by the National Medical Commission (NMC), National Board of Examinations (NBE), or State Medical Council (SMC) is also required.
For verification of identity and personal information, candidates need to produce a birth certificate or Class X pass certificate that is valid. Besides this, government-issued photo identity cards like Aadhaar card, PAN card, driving license, or passport are also acceptable. Lack of submitting any of these vital documents may result in disqualification during the counselling process.
The whole process of application is done via the Medical Counselling Committee portal, mcc.nic.in. When the portal is opened, candidates need to go to the NEET SS tab and find the new registration link. Once the application form is filled and documents are uploaded, the applicants will be required to pay the counselling registration fee along with a security deposit. After submitting the form, applicants are requested to save a copy and retain a print or electronic version for future use.
NEET SS counselling this year is of particular importance to medical practitioners who wish to further specialize in their area of interest. With a merit-based and strict admission process, MCC ensures transparency and fairness in seat allocation, thereby upholding the standards of India’s super speciality medical education.
When the registration window opens, candidates are advised to finish the process long before the deadline to prevent technical issues at the very end. Keeping track of the official MCC website is also necessary for timely announcements, changes in schedule, and other important notifications concerning the counselling rounds.
As the choice locking and allotment rounds draw near, the next few days will prove to be the deciding moment for all NEET SS 2024 eligible candidates. Their decision, backed by academic excellence and timely documentation, will mark the way forward in getting a seat in one of India’s best super speciality courses.
