PM-YUVA Mentorship Scheme 3.0 Opens for Young Writers

Share

The Ministry of Education, along with the National Book Trust (NBT) and MyGov, has now launched the third edition of its flagship initiative, the PM-YUVA Mentorship Scheme—PM-YUVA 3.0. This much-awaited program is poised to empower prospective writers all over India by providing them with an opportunity to convey their thoughts via literature, in addition to financial support and mentoring. With an aim to unlock the potential of the youth of the country, the scheme seeks to develop the next generation of writers under 30 years old.

The PM-YUVA 3.0 competition from March 11 to June 10, 2025, is calling for submissions in English as well as 22 listed Indian languages. Aspirants are invited to submit original works based on one of the three theme categories selected for this edition, which are: the Contribution of Indian Diaspora in Nation Building, the Indian Knowledge System, and Makers of Modern India (1950–2025). Each of these themes addresses the government’s intention to advance stories that enhance India’s intellectual and cultural identity alongside addressing perspectives that are historical and modern.

This year, 50 young authors will be chosen on the basis of the originality, creativity, and appropriateness of their work. Each chosen author will be given a monthly scholarship of Rs 50,000 for six months. This grant is meant to enable them to write without worrying about monetary limitations, offering them the liberty to nurture their ideas into full-length books.

The PM-YUVA Mentorship Scheme stands out for integrating financial assistance with literary mentorship at a professional level. The National Book Trust, India’s leading publishing organization under the Ministry of Education, will also be central to moulding the chosen authors. Through a sequence of workshops, expert interactions, and individual guidance sessions, NBT will assist participants in refining their manuscripts and readying them for publication. The completion of this journey will witness each author’s book being published by the NBT, with possible outreach at national and global platforms.

The PM-YUVA program, initiated in 2021 for the first time, has gradually accelerated with its earlier editions. PM-YUVA 1.0 and 2.0 mentored more than 70 writers in each case, keeping in view India’s literary heritage and democratic roots. Most of the candidates from previous batches have published their books, attended literary festivals, and become voices of authority in today’s writing circles. The scheme has been transformed into a powerful cultural intervention that brings together creativity with institutional enablement, presenting a one-of-its-kind opportunity for young minds with a love for writing.

Following its larger mission, the Ministry of Education is also encouraging universities, colleges, and other higher-education institutions to create awareness about PM-YUVA 3.0. The faculty and student communities are being encouraged to join and increase the scheme’s exposure on a large scale so that potential talent from all over the country is provided with the opportunity to come into their own. The mentorship program not only rewards and gives space for development to young writers, but it also enhances the Indian literary environment with new visions and vibrant narrative styles.

To submit, interested persons have to go to https://innovateindia.mygov.in/yuva-2025 and comply with the submission protocol given. The deadline for submission is June 10, 2025. Candidates can also contact [email protected] or the official NBT website at www.nbtindia.gov.in for further details about the eligibility conditions, selection, and terms of participation.

As the formal launch is slated for May 15, 2025, the buzz around PM-YUVA 3.0 is evident. As the competition goes on, it is likely to not only highlight the creative excellence of India’s youth but also add to the country’s cultural diplomacy via literature. In a time when storytelling influences thought and policy, PM-YUVA is a mighty effort to bring up a generation of well-informed, expressive, and culturally grounded writers poised to leave their imprint on the world.
