The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the results of the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (I) 2025 and Combined Defence Services (CDS) Examination (I) 2025. Thousands of candidates who sat for these high-profile defence service exams are now able to view their results on the official website of UPSC, http://upsc.gov.in.
The written test for NDA/NA (I) 2025 was held on April 13 this year. This test is the door to candidates who want to become officers in the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. The results, released in PDF form on the commission’s website, include the roll numbers and names of candidates who have cleared the written test successfully. UPSC held the CDS (I) 2025 examination for filling 457 vacancies and the NDA/NA (I) 2025 examination for filling 406 vacancies.
The names of the candidates whose names are mentioned in the list are now qualified to sit for the next phase of the selection process — the interview round held by the Services Selection Board (SSB), under the Ministry of Defence. These interviews will be key to final selection and admission to the 155th Course of the National Defence Academy and the 117th Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC), which are scheduled to commence on January 2, 2026.
As asserted in the press release, all selected candidates at this point hold provisional candidatures only. They are expected to get themselves registered as per their obligation on the Indian Army website recruiting portal within a fortnight from the results being declared. The registration would be necessary to allote centers for selection as well as appointment of SSB interview dates. The candidates, having already once registered on Indian Army recruitment web portal, shall be exempt.
After successful registration, the candidates will be communicated further about their selection centre and SSB interview schedule through their registered email IDs. It is essential that all shortlisted candidates verify the correctness of their contact details and check their emails frequently for communications from the SSB authorities. At the interview stage, candidates will have to produce original documents, such as their certificates of age and educational qualifications, to establish their eligibility.
To help candidates, UPSC has arranged through its Facilitation Counter, which is placed near Gate ‘C’ of its complex. Questions can be answered personally or over the telephone by means of the following telephone numbers: 011-23385271, 011-23381125, or 011-23098543, from 10 AM to 5 PM on working days. This facilitation mechanism is designed to help candidates navigate the subsequent stages of the recruitment process.
In a further step towards ensuring transparency and allowing candidates to evaluate their performance, the Commission has declared that marksheets of all contenders will be made public on its official website. The marksheets will be released within 15 days of the declaration of results but after the completion of SSB interviews. The marksheets will be available online for 30 days, giving the candidates sufficient time to download and keep them as personal record and academic reference.
The NDA and CDS exams, taken twice a year by UPSC, are amongst the most highly competitive and in-demand routes available to young Indians seeking to become part of the armed forces. Thousands of dreamers prepare thoroughly every year for a chance at a place at these prestigious schools. The shortlisted candidates have now reached an important milestone step towards starting out as commissioned officers in the Indian defence forces.
The declaration of the results is just one milestone along the way to final selection, however. SSB interviews will challenge candidates on academic knowledge as much as leadership skills, psychological fitness, and physical fitness — all qualities the future leaders of India’s defense forces will require.
