The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the 2025 exam schedule for Indian Economic Service/Indian Statistical Service (IES/ISS) and the Combined Medical Services (CMS) exams. The IES and ISS exams will be conducted from June 20 to June 22, 2025, in two shifts, as per the official notification. While that, the CMS exam will be held on July 20, 2025, and will also be held in two shifts: Paper I from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM and Paper II from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

For the IES/ISS exam, 47 vacancies have been declared. Out of these, 12 are for the Indian Economic Service (IES) and 35 for the Indian Statistical Service (ISS). The CMS exam offers a greater number of vacancies, totaling 705 across different medical departments and institutions around the nation. These vacancies will likely receive a large number of applications, given the status and perks of working in government medical services.

Both the CMS and IES/ISS tests are very competitive and bring in professionals from specialized backgrounds. The IES test is for professionals with economics background, and the selected candidates will be making policy decisions for the government and analyzing the economy. The ISS test is for statisticians who will be analyzing data, conducting research, and assisting in policy-making in different areas of the government.

The CMS exam chooses medical professionals who are required for different government healthcare services, such as railways and municipal corporations. The candidates who pass the CMS exam will work in government medical departments, being an integral part of public health services throughout the nation. The medical services delivered by these professionals are essential for maintaining the health and welfare of the common people, and hence this is an important component of the healthcare delivery system of the government.

Applicants who wish to sit for these exams can view the complete exam schedule on the official UPSC website (upsc.gov.in). To download the schedule, applicants can go to the UPSC homepage and click on the appropriate link for the CMS, IES, or ISS 2025 exam schedules. After the exam schedule comes up on the screen, applicants can view the dates and details and download a copy for reference. It is also recommended to have a printout of the schedule to refer to later.

According to the official instructions, candidates should report to the examination center at least 30 minutes prior to each session. This is to facilitate easy entry and to enable candidates to get settled before the examination starts. Apart from the schedule of the exam, the UPSC has also identified a seven-day period, commencing from the day immediately following the exam, during which the candidates may submit representations for the questions set in the exam papers. This will remain open until 6:00 PM on the seventh day following the exam. Candidates need to upload these representations solely through the “Online Question Paper Representation Portal” (QPRep) on the official UPSC website.

IES and ISS exams are extremely important for those wishing to serve in specialized positions in the government. The IES selects students who will be employed to make key economic decisions and provide guidance to the government regarding the country’s economic policy. The ISS exam selects statisticians who play a fundamental role in carrying out research, analyzing statistics, and informing government decisions based on statistical evidence.

In the same vein, the CMS exam is among the most popular medical exams in India. It presents the chance for medical practitioners to practice in government-operated healthcare institutions, even in high-priority fields such as the Indian Railways. Due to the availability of vacancies and the popularity of the UPSC exams, a large number of candidates in India are likely to apply for these positions.

Both IES/ISS and CMS examinations provide very good career prospects under the Indian government, and aspirants should heed the guidelines made by UPSC very carefully. Adequate preparation is necessary in order to perform well in these examinations, and being aware of the schedule and other facts beforehand enables candidates to plan better in advance. If candidates stick to the time slots for representations laid down and report to the venue of examination well in time, they can even maximize their prospects of doing well.

In conclusion, the UPSC exam calendar for the IES, ISS, and CMS exams has been announced, marking the start of preparation for the candidates. With the number of vacancies in both the economic and medical services being substantial, the exams are a major milestone for individuals looking to serve the Indian government. Candidates need to download the exam calendar and make their preparations early in advance to have a high probability of success.
