Share

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), an A++ accredited institution by NAAC, showed its unrelenting commitment to innovation and entrepreneurship through two landmark events on January 16, 2025. The Atal Incubation Centre of GGSIPU inked an equity-based incubation agreement with Agomuc, a pioneering program aimed at addressing the complex issues of urbanization and socio-economic inequalities, while the university also celebrated National Startup Day 2025 with great enthusiasm.

AIC signed an agreement with the Agomuc Program, co-founded by Jas Sharma and Dinesh Sharma. Agomuc uses state-of-the-art technology to respond to the increasingly complex patterns of urban crime. Using AI, advanced analytics, and social behavior insights, the program aims to improve public safety by developing predictive models that predict and prevent possible threats. This collaboration is likely to play an important role in making communities safer and strengthening the university’s focus on practical and impactful technological solutions.

The signing of the agreement highlights GGSIPU’s dedication to fostering partnerships that drive social and technological progress. Speaking about the initiative, university officials emphasized how this collaboration aligns with the institution’s broader goal of nurturing innovation that directly benefits society. Agomuc’s potential to revolutionize public safety through AI-driven solutions underscores the importance of such partnerships in addressing real-world challenges.

This milestone was also marked by the grand celebration of National Startup Day 2025 at the university. The event, under the aegis of the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), was a reflection of the entrepreneurial energy and innovative spirit that define India’s startup ecosystem. GGSIPU was one of the 13 locations across the country where a live screening of Udyamotsav 2025 took place.

Udyamotsav 2025, a flagship event hosted by AICTE Chairman Prof. T. G. Sitharam, brought faculty, students, and incubators together to celebrate the achievements and aspirations of India’s entrepreneurs. The event witnessed the launch of several key initiatives, including the National Pitching Round and the Faculty Development Programme. These are aimed at arming budding entrepreneurs and educators with the tools and resources needed to drive innovation further.

One of the highlights of the celebration was the announcement of the Institution’s Innovation Council’s (IIC) 6.0 Annual Performance Star Ratings. The ratings serve as a benchmark for institutions actively contributing to the nation’s innovation and entrepreneurship landscape. The announcement reflected GGSIPU’s commitment to maintaining its position as a hub for creativity and entrepreneurial growth.

Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Verma, Vice Chancellor GGSIPU addressed the gathering. The university vision he enunciated would be of providing support for the startup movement in an innovative and entrepreneurial environment. He unveiled a strategic investment, an incubation fund amounting to Rs. 5 crore, targeting enhancing startup formation, mentoring, and seed funding. The pre-incubation and incubation projects, besides development of a prototype in cooperation with industry partners, will receive impetus as will the setup of facilities for NextGen technologies.

Prof. Verma explained how this fund will be utilized through the university’s Institution Innovation Council, Atal Incubation Centre, and IPU-Innovation Incubation Foundation (IIF). Thus, GGSIPU looks forward to a future where these resources are put to effective use in transforming ideas into viable business propositions that bring about economic development and solve some of the world’s problems.

The celebration at GGSIPU to mark National Startup Day goes beyond paying a tribute to India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem; it speaks of the proactive stance that the university took toward innovation. This provoked a beehive of activities led by faculty, students, and incubators, reminding everyone of how eager they are to enhance innovation and progress. The event also provided a wide platform for knowledge sharing and collaborative sessions by participants who communicated insights and ideas to support advancement in the startup ecosystem.

With the equity-based incubation agreement with Agomuc and the successful observance of National Startup Day 2025, GGSIPU has reinforced its position as a leader in promoting innovation and entrepreneurship. The initiatives of the university reflect its commitment to addressing contemporary challenges through technology and collaboration while creating opportunities for the next generation of innovators.

As India continues to establish itself as the global hub for startups and innovation, the efforts of GGSIPU exemplify the transformative role that academic institutions can play in shaping the future. Fostering partnerships, investing in resources, and celebrating the spirit of entrepreneurship are paving the way toward a brighter, more innovative tomorrow.
