In a much-anticipated announcement, the Ministry of Education revealed the latest National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings for the year 2023. The prestigious title of the best educational institute in the overall category was awarded to the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras. This achievement solidifies IIT Madras’ reputation as a premier institution for higher education in the country.

Following closely behind IIT Madras, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore and IIT Delhi claimed the second and third positions, respectively. These institutions have consistently displayed excellence in various academic and research parameters, contributing significantly to the educational landscape of India.

In the latest edition of NIRF rankings, significant updates have been made to the categorization. NIRF has introduced a new discipline, Agriculture and Allied Sectors, highlighting its growing importance in the education sector. Additionally, the architecture discipline has undergone a name change, now being referred to as Architecture and Planning.

Last year, the NIRF rankings consisted of four main categories: Overall, Colleges, Universities, and Research Institutions. The subject domains included Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Law, Medical, Architecture, and Dental.
