The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has initiated the online registration process for the appointment of 357 Assistant Commandants (ACs) in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) for the year 2025. The registration window will be closed on March 25, 2025. Candidates interested in applying must register their applications on the official UPSC website at upsconline.gov.in by the deadline.

This recruitment campaign will fill up posts in various forces of the CAPFs, viz., Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Out of the total number of posts, the BSF has 24, CRPF has 204, CISF has 92, ITBP has 4, and SSB has 33. This is a good chance for people who want to serve in one of India’s leading security forces.

The test for this recruitment shall be held on August 3, 2025. The examination will be of two papers. The first paper will cover General Ability and Intelligence, and the test will be from 10 am to 12 pm. The test will be for 250 marks and will be in both English and Hindi. The second paper, which will be on General Studies, Essay, and Comprehension, will be conducted between 2 pm and 5 pm. This paper will be worth 200 marks, and although the essay section can be attempted in English or Hindi, the remaining components have to be attempted in English. The admit cards for the test will be released on the last working day of the preceding week to the exam.

Following the written test, the candidates will be asked to take a series of tests to become eligible for the job. The tests are the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), the Physical Standards Test (PST), an Interview/Personality Test, and a Medical Standards Test. These tests are meant to ensure that the candidates possess the required physical and medical standards to work in the CAPFs.

As far as eligibility is concerned, the applicants should be minimum 20 years and maximum 25 years of age as of August 1, 2025. Age relaxations shall be given to applicants belonging to reserved categories in accordance with government norms. Apart from this, applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent degree from a recognized university. Those candidates who are appearing for the final year of their graduation can also provisionally apply if they complete their educational qualification at the time of the interview or personality test.

UPSC has also provided facilities for candidates with recognized professional and technical qualifications, who can appear as long as they are found to meet the standards laid down. It is to be mentioned that candidates already selected in past CAPF Assistant Commandant exams are not allowed to reappear.

The CAPF Assistant Commandants 2025 registration process is a great chance for future candidates to be a part of the elite Central Armed Police Forces and help the country’s security. Eligible candidates who make it through the tough selection process will get a chance to be a part of India’s most prestigious paramilitary forces.

With the registration deadline fast approaching, aspiring candidates are urged to apply as early as possible and meticulously follow the guidelines provided on the official UPSC website to ensure their applications are processed correctly. Candidates should also start preparing for the exam, since the two-tier written test will demand a clear grasp of general intelligence, current affairs, and essay writing skills, all of which are vital to clearing the exam.

Briefly, the UPSC has invited online registrations for the appointment of Assistant Commandants in the CAPFs for 2025. The closing date for registration is March 25, 2025, while the written test will be held on August 3, 2025. With 357 posts vacant across different forces, this is a big recruitment drive for candidates seeking to join the country’s security systems.
