In an effort to empower India’s underprivileged youth, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has expanded the deadline for registration for the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PM Internship Scheme) 2025. Eligible candidates can apply until April 22, 2025, by logging into the official website at https://pminternship.mca.gov.in. The extension follows the initial deadline of March 31, 2025, and provides prospective applicants with further time to submit their applications and benefit from this life-changing opportunity.
Launched by MCA, the PM Internship Scheme is a pioneering program that aims to offer paid internship placements for young people who belong to economically weaker sections of society. In order to provide India’s youth with hands-on skills and actual business experience, the scheme focuses on people aged between 21 and 24 years, particularly those from low-income families. The scheme is part of the overall vision of the government to build an inclusive and empowered youth population capable of facing the challenges of a fast-changing economy.
The 2025 scheme provides 12-month internships in over 500 top Indian companies. The internships will be held in various sectors and industries, providing young people with an insight into India’s leading industries. In its pilot run, the scheme hopes to place 1.25 lakh youngsters during 2024-25 with a long-term goal to train one crore people over the next five years. This mass intervention will go a long way in enhancing job outcomes for youth who otherwise have no access to such high-quality job opportunities.
All eligible applicants are required to meet specific age, educational, and income requirements in order to apply. The scheme is especially geared towards youth who lack the resources to seek more conventional career-development options. Targeting youth from lower-income backgrounds, the PM Internship Scheme aims to narrow the gap of opportunity and provide effective channels for social mobility.
Another distinguishing characteristic of the scheme is its accessibility and application process. Interested candidates need to initially go to the official website and fill in their profile by providing educational qualifications, income information, and interests. After registering, candidates can view available internship opportunities and apply directly to the ones that suit their interests and qualifications. If selected, candidates will be invited to attend an online interview or test. Those who succeed in the selection process will be onboarded and start their internship, much of which can be conducted remotely, so the scheme is accessible even to those residing in remote locations.
Besides the precious work experience, the program also provides various financial and insurance incentives to the interns. All the shortlisted candidates will get a stipend of Rs 5,000 per month for meeting essential expenses during the internship. In addition, an initial financial assistance of Rs 6,000 will also be made. This fund support will help reduce the family burden and enable the interns to concentrate on studying and gaining expertise.
In addition, all interns covered under the scheme will have government-sponsored insurance schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana. Additional accidental insurance coverage might also be provided by some of the companies participating in the scheme, which would provide an extra sense of security and peace of mind for the interns and their dependents.
The PM Internship Scheme 2025 is not merely an employment program—it’s a move towards inclusive development, capacity building, and economic empowerment of India’s youth. With a focus on young people from marginalized sections, the government seeks to create a more inclusive future and an educated and skilled workforce that can contribute significantly to the nation’s progress.
With the extended deadline, more young applicants now have a chance to apply and change their future through this coveted program. The government has invited eligible youth to seize this opportunity and come forward to become a part of India’s growth story.
