The Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) has now officially started the online application process for filling the Junior Engineer (JE) position in the Fishery Department. The commission released an announcement stating that a total of 32 vacancies will be filled under this recruitment process, and those interested can now apply by clicking on the official website of APSC — apsc.nic.in. The registration process, which began on May 3, 2025, will continue until June 2, 2025.
This move by the APSC arrives as a tremendous chance for aspirant engineers from Assam, especially those with a diploma in civil engineering-oriented fields. Following the official release, these jobs are specifically available in the Fishery Department in order to add technical support and infrastructure to the department through well-qualified officers.
Applicants need to satisfy some requirements imposed by the commission in order to be eligible for the posts. Above all, applicants should be citizens of India as per Articles 5 to 8 of the Indian Constitution. They should also be permanent residents of Assam. Candidates will have to provide either a valid Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) of Assam or a valid registration certificate of any Employment Exchange of the state as evidence of residence. Not submitting these documents may lead to disqualification at the time of application.
Age requirements as laid down by APSC require candidates to be aged between 18 to 40 years as of January 1, 2025. But following government regulations, age relaxation is available for reserved category candidates to provide equal opportunities for people from all sections of society.
On educational qualifications, the candidates are required to have undergone a three-year diploma in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering and Planning, or Construction Technology. The diploma has to be awarded from an All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)-recognized institution. Notably, only full-time diplomas are acceptable according to this recruitment. Distance or part-time diplomas will be excluded, showcasing the commission’s insistence on whole-scale and hands-on technical education.
As far as application fees are concerned, the pattern differs according to category. General category applicants have to pay a sum of Rs 297.20, out of which Rs 250 is the APSC fee and Rs 47.20 is the Common Service Centre – Special Purpose Vehicle (CSC-SPV) processing fee. OBC/MOBC category candidates have to pay Rs 197.20, including a Rs 150 APSC fee and the same CSC-SPV fee. While the SC, ST, BPL, and PwBD categories of candidates are exempted from paying the APSC fee and only require a payment of Rs 47.20 for processing, these candidates are necessitated to provide certificates issued by a competent authority, which should be valid.
Candidates are urged in their own interest to make sure that their applications are complete in all respects. Any application submitted incomplete or without the documents or application fee (where applicable) will be rejected at once by the commission without any further notice. Hence, candidates must read the instructions carefully on the official website before applying.
This hiring drive manifests the state government’s continued initiative towards improving public service delivery by engaging talented and qualified staff. The addition of Junior Engineers in the Fishery Department is likely to enhance the technical manpower and aid infrastructural growth in Assam’s fishery sector — an important rural economy and livelihood generation element of the state.
Prospective candidates are advised to apply much in advance to prevent any last-minute technical problems. For more details, applicants may go through the official notification on the APSC website that describes all eligibility criteria, application procedure, and the procedure for selection step by step.
