In a major breakthrough for students and teachers throughout the state, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) announced the results of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Class XII exams today, May 5, 2025. The results were released early morning, and students can now view their individual scorecards on the official websites by providing their roll number and their mother’s name, according to information on their admit cards.

This year’s HSC exams, which were held from February 11 to March 18, 2025, were offline. The Maharashtra board requires students to obtain a minimum of 35% in theory and practical parts of each subject to pass. While students hurry to see their results, the official websites to view the marksheets are https://hscresult.mahahsscboard.in, http://msbshse.co.in, and http://digilocker.gov.in. The results can also be viewed on DigiLocker for registered users.

This year, the overall pass percentage is 91.88%, a slight decline from last year’s pass percentage of 93.37%. Yet again, the performance of various divisions in the state has once more reflected regional academic trends. The Konkan division has again topped the list, with an impressive pass percentage of 96.74%. Conversely, the Latur division recorded the worst performance of all regions with a pass percentage of 89.46%.

Gender-separately, girls students have further beaten their boys counterparts, continuing a trend observed in earlier years. This year, girls’ pass percentage is a remarkable 94.54%, much higher compared to boys’ pass percentage of 89.51%. This repeating success on the part of girls highlights their increasing scholastic strength on Maharashtra’s education turf.

Students also have the facility to access their electronic marksheets via DigiLocker, a Government of India initiative where students can safely store digital documents. To access results via DigiLocker, students need to activate their account by using their roll number, school code, and six-digit security PIN that they receive from their school. After confirming their mobile number via OTP, students can log into their DigiLocker account and download their marksheet from the Documents tab.

Apart from declaring the results, the board has also outlined the procedure for those students who will not be pleased with their results or have failed in one or more subjects. The failed candidates will be allowed to appear in supplementary examinations so that they are given a second chance to pass the board. Detailed information regarding the dates and schedule for supplementary exams will be published in the next few days on the board’s official websites.

For those students who wish to have their marks re-evaluated or their marks enhanced, the board has provided facilities to do so. Such students can ask for rechecking or re-evaluation at a specified fee per subject. This facility is meant to provide transparency and justice to those who feel there might have been a mistake in marking their answer sheets.

Year back in 2024, HSC results were announced later than May 21, and the SSC results came out on May 25. The pass percentage overall in the year 2024 was higher by a margin, with the SSC students boasting a success percentage of 95.81% and the HSC students delivering 93.37%. There may have been a slight slide in the all-around performance in this year as compared to other years, yet the numbers demonstrate a stable and strong academic outcome from students right across the state.

Students are instructed to continue frequenting the official websites for up-to-date information about supplementary exams, re-evaluation processes, and other post-result processes. The MSBSHSE reaffirmed its intent to provide accurate and timely information in order to ensure seamless transfer of students proceeding to higher studies or other professional endeavors.

With the announcement of these outcomes, thousands of students in Maharashtra inch forward towards their career and education ambitions, and the education board continues in its pursuit to advance the quality of examination and student care.
