Centurion University Hosts 3rd AIU Women’s Parliament, Marks 100 Years of AIU

The AIU National Women Student Parliament, held at Centurion University, brought together students from over 30 universities to discuss women’s participation in governance, leadership, and social change.

Governor of Odisha, Dr. Kumbhampati Haribabu, underscored the need to recognize the contributions of women in drafting the Constitution and highlighted their growing roles in business, law, governance, and innovation. He stressed the importance of student elections in shaping future leaders, urging young women to use their voices to influence national progress.

Dr. Supriya Pattanayak, Vice-Chancellor of Centurion University, emphasized that empowering women is about shaping the future, not just protest. She called for leadership built on dialogue, representation, and responsibility.

Dr. Mamata Rani Agarwal, Additional Secretary of AIU and a former Air Force pilot, addressed the importance of informed participation and the need for young women to build knowledge alongside raising their voices.

Contributions also came from Dr. G. S. N. Raju, Chancellor of Centurion University, who focused on gender inclusivity in education, and Dr. Gitanjali Dash, Vice-Chancellor of Berhampur University, who projected equal representation of women across sectors by 2047. Dr. Amiya Kumar Rath from BPUT underlined that national development is linked to the status of women.

Student participants engaged in discussions around socio-political issues, contributing ideas on leadership, equity, and policy. The platform served as a space for reflection on women’s evolving roles in shaping democratic institutions and governance.
