GBHSS Zainakote Wins ‘Youth for Earth’ Award for Innovation

The Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Zainakote was bestowed with the prestigious “Youth for Earth” award in Special Category for its innovative and impactful waste management project. The award was conferred to the school’s project during the 6th International Conference on Sustainability Education where the project was highly appreciated for its practical approach toward the sustainable environment.
Focusing on efficient waste management, the project looked creative and environment-friendly in providing solutions to local environmental challenges. The initiative was not only raising awareness in sustainable living among the students but also raising a call to responsible habits among those in the local community regarding waste disposal.
Complementing this, GBHSS Zainakote has also been granted ₹10,000 for the purposes of furthering their sustainability and implementing future environmental projects.
As secretary to the environment committee at GBHSS Zainakote, said, “We are proud to have been recognized with this award. This is because students and faculty who were involved in this project will continue to be the driving force for such more innovative sustainability projects like this.”.
The “Youth for Earth” award aims to equip and motivate youthful minds to take responsibility for environmental issues while coming up with long-lasting sustainable solutions. This recognition establishes GBHSS Zainakote as one of the exemplary leads in terms of the handling of environmental education and community-driven initiatives.
The innovative project, by this school, has gained attention at the national level and also subsequently set a benchmark for other educational institutions to follow suit in promoting sustainability and environmental consciousness.
