IIT BHU Extends PG Admission Deadline To April 9

Share

In a recent update that brings relief to aspirants, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) BHU has extended the last date to register for its postgraduate programs, such as MTech and MPharm, up to April 9, 2025. This extension provides candidates who passed the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025 another chance to apply. Eligible and interested students can now fill out their application process by visiting the official website at pgadmission.iitbhu.ac.in.

The application process consists of a well-sequenced step-by-step procedure beginning with registration on the portal. The candidates are required to log in to enter their personal details, upload their passport-size photo and signature, and choose their preferred programme. For applicants under the category of MTech Full-Time Regular, it is compulsory to enter the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) Registration ID.

The format also asks for information pertaining to academic history, GATE, GPAT, or other screening tests, along with work experience, if any. After entering all the details, candidates have to save, check, and lock their application before submitting it. It is advisable to download the final version of the application form in PDF format for reference purposes.

IIT BHU has made it abundantly clear in its official announcement that all fields in the online form are obligatory. Any form that is incomplete or filled in incorrectly will not be accepted by the system. For avoiding confusion, candidates should fill ‘-NA-‘ in those areas which are not relevant to them and ‘-Nil-‘ in those areas where data is not available. The save button provided at the bottom of every section should be clicked periodically for avoiding any loss of data.

The fee structure for application has been made simple and easy to access. Candidates who fall under the General, OBC-Non Creamy Layer, and General-EWS categories have to pay Rs 500, whereas candidates belonging to SC, ST, and PwD categories have to pay Rs 250. The fee should be paid only through an online process. The fee is non-refundable, i.e., once paid, it will not be reimbursed under any conditions. But those applicants who subsequently want to withdraw their application within the notified time limit can do so. In that case, refund will be made after deducting a penalty. Refund will not be entertained after physical registration except for caution deposit.

After the application window closes, the institute will declare the shortlisted candidates for the test and interview round on April 15, 2025. The process of evaluation will take place between April 28 to May 4, 2025. Then the selected and waitlisted candidates’ list will be declared on May 8, 2025.

Then, the admission process will proceed through several rounds. Round 1 will be from May 17 to May 20, and then Round 2 will be from May 23 to May 26. Round 3 will be from May 29 to June 2, Round 4 from June 5 to June 8, Round 5 from June 11 to June 14, and the final Round 6 from June 17 to June 20, 2025.

Applicants who are offered admission will be informed both by email and through the admission portal. Once they receive the offer, they are required to pay the registration fee online and forward the e-receipt to the department head or coordinator as directed.

Academic classes for the newly admitted postgraduate students will formally start from July 28, 2025. Such a comprehensive and transparent process demonstrates IIT BHU’s determination to provide a seamless admission process for candidates from all over the country. With the closing date for registration now being extended, aspirants have a vital few days to submit their applications and ensure their place among one of India’s best technical institutions.
