Share

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has released the official top 10 All India Rank (AIR) winners for JAM 2025, sending shockwaves of joy among the candidates who had sat for the very competitive entrance test. The merit list for subjects is available on the official portal, and the candidates can see their ranking online. The announcement is a crucial milestone for those students who have been vying to join postgraduate science and technology studies at the premier IITs.

JAM 2025, the Joint Admission Test for Masters, was held in February and the results of the same were recently declared on March 19. The merit list of top 10 contains subjects like Biotechnology, Chemistry, Economics, Geology, Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics, and Physics. Students who have got top ranks in these subjects can now move on to the subsequent steps in their admission process.

For postgraduate applicants, JAM scores become central. The entrance exam opens gates to MSc, MSc (Technology), MS (Research), MSc-MTech double degree, Joint MSc-PhD, and MSc-PhD double degree programs. The entrance exams are all conducted by IITs as well as some of the major institutes. The popularity of these entrance exams ensures that JAM is the highly desired exam to appear in if one wishes to pursue studies at the research-based science levels within India.

To be considered for admission, the candidates should fulfill the Minimum Educational Qualifications (MEQs) and other requirements as laid down by the respective institutes. With approximately 3,000 seats in 21 IITs, the candidates need to go through the admission process carefully. Unlike most other entrance-based admissions, JAM does not involve any additional interviews or written tests for the selection process. Admission is purely on merit and the rank obtained in the exam.

Shortlisted candidates can access their scorecards from March 24 to July 31. They will not just see their marks but also receive their all-India rank, which will provide them with the knowledge of how they perform amongst thousands of aspirants. The JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS) website will be available from March 26 to April 9, when candidates can submit their application for their desired programmes. It is recommended that candidates finish up their application process within these specified dates to have a chance at admission.

Also, on May 8, a roll of candidates whose category claim has been found invalid will be displayed on the JAM 2025 website. This roll will assist students in confirming if their application comes under any discrepancies regarding category claims, so that transparency can be maintained in the admission process.

The admission procedure will be carried out in several stages, and the first admission list will be published on May 26. The selected candidates under this list are required to confirm their seats by paying the fees online by May 30. It is a key step, as not paying the fees on time can lead to the seat being allotted to a later candidate in further admission rounds.

For those who want to change their admission decision, a withdrawal facility will be open from June 7 to July 7. This is also for flexibility of those who might have admitted in various institutes or want to look into other options before making a final decision. The process gives students enough time to make the right decisions for their academic life.

JAM is one of the most highly regarded exams among science graduates in India for many years. It has, over time, provided opportunities to thousands of students to carry on higher studies in some of the finest research institutes across the country. The competitiveness of the exam mirrors the great standards set by the IITs and other institutes involved in their postgraduate programs.

While the students verify their rankings and proceed ahead in the process of admission, they must double-check whether they fulfill all criteria of eligibility and fill up required formalities timely. The IITs retain their legacy of academic superiority, and JAM is a portal for students to establish their professional careers in science research, technology, and innovation.

For the candidates who want to get into these programs, it is important to monitor significant dates, apply through JOAPS, and adhere to the admission procedure. With the declaration of the top 10 AIR holders, IIT Delhi has paved the way for the subsequent stage of the admission process, getting the candidates one step closer to their aspiration of studying postgraduate courses in India’s best institutes.
