The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has started the online registration for postgraduate (PG) and PhD admissions for the year 2025. Eligible candidates can apply online through the official website of the institute. The last date for submitting the applications is April 7, 2025.
According to the admission schedule, shortlisted candidates will be called for interviews between May 14 and June 16. After the selection process is over, selected candidates will be offered admission. The orientation programme for fresh admissions will take place on July 19, followed by the registration process on July 19 and 20. Classes for the MTech 2025 batch will begin from July 24.
Admission to IIT Delhiās MTech programmes is primarily based on GATE 2025 scores. However, IIT graduates with exceptional academic performance are offered an exemption from this requirement. Specifically, students who have completed their BTech from any IIT and have secured a CGPA of 8.0 or above do not need to appear for the GATE examination. Rather, they will be eligible for admission on the basis of an interview, which will be held via videoconferencing. This waiver is intended to motivate deserving students from IITs to pursue higher studies without the added burden of a competitive exam.
For general category applicants, the minimum qualification for admission is a BTech or BE degree with a minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.0. But in order to give equal opportunities, the criteria for eligibility of SC, ST, and PwD category candidates shall be relaxed. Such candidates must have a minimum of 55% marks or a CGPA of 5.5 in their qualifying degree. Students in the final year who should complete their degree requirements by the third week of July 2025 are also eligible to apply.
Shortlisted candidates for MTech full-time programs are required to confirm their acceptance through the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP). COAP is a central hub for MTech admission processing by the different IITs and offers the convenience of a simplified process for the candidate to accept or reject offers. Candidates are advised to go through the admission guidelines carefully, as non-acceptance of their offer within the time frame will cause the loss of their seat.
