The Indian Maritime University (IMU) has initiated the counselling process for the IMU Common Entrance Test (CET) 2025, opening up opportunities for thousands of aspiring maritime professionals to secure admission in various undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma programmes. Following the declaration of IMU CET 2025 results on May 30, 2025, qualified candidates can now participate in the next crucial phase—counselling. The process is being conducted online through the official IMU website, imu.edu.in, and involves multiple steps including registration, choice filling, seat allotment, document verification, and final admission confirmation.

Candidates eligible for counselling must register on the IMU portal before June 8, 2025, the final deadline for registration. To begin the process, aspirants need to visit the university’s official website and click on the “IMU CET Counselling 2025” link. The portal requires the CET roll number, date of birth, and other relevant details for successful registration. Upon completing the registration, candidates must proceed with choice filling, during which they are asked to list their preferred IMU campuses and affiliated colleges in order of priority. This step is vital, as it forms the basis for seat allotment.

Once the choice filling is complete, the university will release the first seat allotment list on June 11, 2025. This list will indicate the campus and programme assigned to each candidate based on their rank, category, and preferences submitted during choice filling. Those allotted a seat in the first list must confirm their acceptance by paying an acceptance fee of ₹30,000 through the online payment options provided on the portal. The deadline to complete this payment and confirm the admission is June 15, 2025.

Following seat confirmation, candidates must report to their allotted campus for document verification, which will take place between June 18 and June 21, 2025. This is a mandatory step in the admission process. Candidates are required to bring along several essential documents for verification. These include the IMU CET 2025 scorecard, original and photocopies of 10th and 12th mark sheets and certificates, category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS) if applicable, domicile certificate for candidates applying under state quota, a valid photo identification proof such as an Aadhaar card, recent passport-size photographs, and proof of payment of the acceptance fee. Only upon successful verification of these documents will the candidate’s admission be officially confirmed.

It is crucial for candidates to report to the respective campus during the document verification window. Failing to do so by June 21, 2025, will lead to cancellation of the allotted seat, and such seats will be reallocated to other eligible candidates in the second admission list, the release date for which will be announced shortly on the IMU portal.

For students wanting to verify their seat allotment, IMU has made the process simple. Candidates need to visit the official website, click on the “Admission List” or “Seat Allotment” link under the CET Counselling section, and download the PDF file containing the seat allotment details. By searching for their name or roll number in the document, candidates can quickly identify the campus and programme allotted to them. Those allotted seats at IMU campuses must immediately follow the steps for fee payment and document verification. However, if a candidate is allotted a seat in one of IMU’s affiliated colleges, they are advised to consult the respective college’s portal for additional admission procedures, as these institutions may follow separate timelines and application processes.

Participation in the counselling process is mandatory for all qualified candidates who wish to secure admission into IMU’s academic programmes, which include sought-after courses in nautical science, marine engineering, maritime studies, logistics, and shipbuilding. Missing any deadline or failing to complete any step could result in disqualification or loss of the candidate’s seat.

The IMU CET 2025 counselling marks a critical transition from test scores to actual enrolment in one of India’s premier maritime institutions. With the maritime industry playing a pivotal role in global trade and India’s growing prominence in the sector, admission to IMU offers students not just academic training but also a pathway to a rewarding and global career. Candidates are strongly advised to regularly check the official website for any further announcements, especially concerning the release of the second admission list and subsequent counselling rounds.
