Documentarily, every newly admitted student has to furnish the prescribed original documents at the time of admission and registration. These include the seat allotment letter from JoSAA and the seat acceptance letter, which are compulsorily required for finalizing their admission. Apart from this, students have to provide Class X and Class XII mark sheets, and a birth certificate in case of necessity.

Candidates belonging to backward classes like SC, ST, OBC-NCL, or EWS are required to produce category certificates issued by the concerned authority. Candidates with Disabilities (PwD) are required to produce a medical certificate signed by a government-approved medical board. An Aadhaar card is also compulsory for identification purposes. Moreover, students seeking concession of fees or financial assistance are required to produce an income certificate. Foreigners who are interested in getting admitted to IITs will have to come with a genuine Passport, Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card, or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) card for verification.

All the students are also requested to continue visiting the official pages of their IITs for any later notifications regarding the registration process, academic schedule, orientation timelines, or any changes in the list of documents. The IITs also release additional information or documents around the time of orientation to guide the new students about campus and academic life.

2025 is a benchmark year for thousands of students joining the IIT ecosystem—a voyage full of promises and challenges. With preparations in full gear, the institutes are working to provide a hassle-free and meaningful induction experience to all.
