The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) announced the results of the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test for Masters of Dental Surgery (NEET MDS) 2025. A total of 30,435 candidates took the test this year, and their results are now live on the official NBEMS website. The examination, held on April 19, 2025, is the entry point for admission to all MDS courses in the academic year 2025-26.
In a detailed statement, the NBEMS underlined the rigorous process adopted to ensure that the examination was accurate and fair. Every question in the question paper of NEET MDS 2025 was thoroughly reviewed by faculty members of the concerned specialty subjects after the examination was held. This revision was done to ensure the technical accuracy of the questions and respective answer keys. Consequently, candidates have been given full marks for any technically incorrect questions identified, whether or not they attempted them. This decision is in keeping with NBEMS’s efforts to uphold transparency and fairness in assessment.
Students who wrote the exam can download their personal scorecards from May 23, 2025, onwards. The scorecards will be posted on the official NBEMS website, https://natboard.edu.in. The scorecard gives a detailed analysis of the performance of the candidate, comprising the score secured and rank in the NEET MDS 2025 exam. This is a personal document for the candidate because it serves as the foundation for the process of admissions and counselling in the future.
The NBEMS also made it clear how the merit lists are to be declared. The All India Quota (AIQ) merit list covering 50% of seats will be declared separately. In contrast, the final merit list comprising category-wise merit lists for State Quota seats will be prepared by individual States and Union Territories. These merit lists will be drawn up according to each state’s eligibility criteria, rules, and reservation policy. This decentralization enables the states to apply their individual rules while promoting a uniform assessment framework through the NEET MDS scores.
As far as the minimum eligibility norms and cut-off marks are concerned, the NBEMS also confirmed the standards for admission into MDS courses. The candidates are required to achieve the minimum qualifying marks according to their category. Minimum qualifying marks for the General and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) categories have been fixed at 50th percentile, i.e., a cut-off mark of 261 on a scale of 960. For candidates belonging to the General category who have disabilities (PwBD), the cutoff will be the 45th percentile or 244 marks. For SC, ST, and OBC candidates, including PwBD from the same categories, the cut-off is the 40th percentile or 227 marks. The cut-offs are meant to ensure only those candidates demonstrating a certain degree of competence are considered for admission to postgraduate dental courses.
The notice also issued a strong warning against malpractice. Candidates who are found to have employed unfair means or practised any type of cheating while taking the examination will be dealt with stern penal action. These candidates will not only be disqualified but their result or candidature will also be cancelled or construed as cancelled. This step reflects NBEMS’s zero-tolerance approach to any malpractice and aims to maintain the examination and admission process’s integrity.
The announcement of NEET MDS results is a landmark for thousands of dental graduates looking forward to advancing studies in dentistry. As the scorecards are to be published soon, the candidates can soon proceed with taking the next step towards getting admitted into renowned institutions in the nation. The results of NEET MDS 2025 will determine the career paths of many dental professionals and help enhance the quality of postgraduate dental education in India.
Contenders are requested to keep an eye on the official NBEMS portal regularly for notification related to the downloading of scorecards and other counselling procedures. Once the states start preparing merit lists as per the NEET MDS outcome, contenders need to be keenly attentive towards the announcements by their respective counselling state authorities for ensuring hassle-free participation in the admission process.
In a nutshell, the NBEMS announcement of NEET MDS 2025 results depicts a rigorous and transparent evaluation process aimed at ensuring stringent standards and fairness while admitting students to dental postgraduation. The exercise also reinforces a merit-based system for future dental surgeons, coupled with ethical behavior while taking exams. With more than 30,000 candidates awaiting their marks, the next few weeks will be pivotal in shaping the next wave of dental professionals in India.
