UGC NET June 2025 Begins Across India In CBT Mode

Share

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has formally opened the University Grants Commission – National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) for June 2025 cycle. The examination started on June 25, the initial day of the test, and will continue throughout the week until June 29. The UGC NET June 2025 exam is being conducted through Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode at numerous centers across the country and will filter lakhs of candidates who want to become eligible for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professorship, and PhD programs at Indian higher educational institutions.

As per the NTA, the exam is conducted in two shifts a day. The first shift starts at 9:00 AM and continues till 12:00 noon and the second shift from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Candidates who are appearing for the test are requested to arrive at their allotted examination centres well in advance as delayed entry under any condition will not be allowed. UGC NET is being conducted with utmost adherence to the examination procedure as well as to the instructions of all candidates, with officials at each center for smooth and adherence-free conduct.

Admit cards for the exams of June 26, 27, and 28 have already been released on the official website of NTA. The candidates must download and print the admit card to report to the examination center. Admit card contains very crucial details like reporting time, address of the test centre precisely, etc., and other important instructions which must be complied with meticulously in order to enter the examination hall.

The pattern of the UGC NET June 2025 exam continues to be the same as for earlier sessions. The examination consists of two papers of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and is being carried out back-to-back in a combined session of three hours (180 minutes). Paper 1 consists of 50 questions carrying a cumulative weightage of 100 marks testing the general teaching and research aptitude of the candidates. Paper 2 is subject-specific and contains 100 questions, each equally valued at 100 marks, thus demanding greater scholastic capability in the selected subject. Two marks are awarded to the candidate for each correct answer, and importantly, there is no negative marking for unattempted or incorrect questions.

One of the strongest points of the exam pattern is that if a question turns out to be invalid or several right options are found, all the candidates who try the question and select any one of the right options shall be awarded full marks. This sort of arrangement ensures procedural fairness and upholds the integrity of the test process, particularly in the event of technical or marking mistakes.

The candidates who are appearing for UGC NET should ensure that they have all the documents listed on exam day. These are a hard copy of the UGC NET admit card, one original and genuine photo identity proof like an Aadhaar card, PAN card, Voter ID, Passport, or Driving License, and a passport-sized photograph which is the same as the one attached to the application form. The candidates are allowed to sit on only their respective seat number as per the seating arrangement. If there is any disorder or fault in the subject paper assigned, the candidates need to inform the examination staff in time so that the matter can be rectified before the exam.

With every cycle, the UGC NET remains a launching pad for postgraduate students and teaching aspirants to make a career in Indian academia and research. The test is held twice a year by the NTA while ensuring high standards to ensure the quality of Indian college and university teaching and research.

With the June 2025 session already on, the applicants are asked to remain composed, follow instructions to the tiniest detail on exam day, and perform their best in both papers. The National Testing Agency again demonstrated its resolve to keeping the examination process honest, secure, and transparent to all test-takers. The outcome of this session will be announced within a few weeks after the completion of the exam process, and shortlisted candidates can apply for different research and academic posts in the country.
