The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has announced the results of the Combined State Engineering Services (Preliminary) Examination 2024. Aspirants who appeared for this crucial exam can now access their results through the official UPPSC website at uppsc.up.nic.in.
The examination, conducted on April 20, 2025, is part of a major recruitment initiative aimed at filling 609 engineering vacancies under both the General and Special Recruitment categories. These vacancies span various departments across the state of Uttar Pradesh, making the selection process highly competitive and significant for thousands of engineering graduates.
Out of a total of 78,798 registered candidates, only 31,639 appeared for the preliminary examination. From this pool of candidates, 7,358 individuals have successfully cleared the prelims and are now eligible to appear for the main written examination. This next stage will test the candidates more rigorously on their technical knowledge, analytical abilities, and depth of understanding in their chosen engineering disciplines.
The main examination is a decisive stage that focuses heavily on subject-specific expertise. Unlike the preliminary test, which primarily screens candidates on general aptitude and basic engineering awareness, the mains will delve deeper into technical content. The goal is to identify candidates who not only possess theoretical knowledge but also demonstrate the capacity to apply concepts in practical, problem-solving scenarios.
Those who pass the main examination will be called for the final stage of the recruitment process: the personal interview. This stage is designed to assess a candidate’s personality, communication skills, and ability to tackle real-world engineering and administrative challenges. The interview aims to evaluate how well a candidate can operate in a professional environment, especially within government departments where responsibilities often demand leadership, technical expertise, and quick decision-making.
Candidates who manage to successfully clear all three stages—prelims, mains, and interview—will be considered for final appointment to the engineering posts advertised under this recruitment drive. The rigorous multi-tiered selection process reflects the UPPSC’s commitment to appointing highly qualified and competent engineers to serve in public sector roles that require both technical acumen and administrative capabilities.
However, UPPSC has clarified that the results and the subsequent selection process remain subject to the outcome of Special Appeal No. 475 (D)/2019, which is currently pending in the High Court. This means that the final appointments could be influenced by the verdict of this legal case filed by the Government of Uttar Pradesh. As such, candidates are advised to stay updated with official notifications and legal developments that may affect their selection.
To view and download the results, candidates are instructed to visit the official UPPSC website. On the homepage, they need to navigate to the “What’s New” section, where a direct link to the result PDF has been provided. Once the document is open, candidates can press Ctrl+F to search for their roll numbers within the list. It is recommended that they download and print the PDF for future reference, particularly for use during the upcoming stages of the recruitment process.
The announcement of the prelims result marks a significant milestone in the UPPSC CES 2025 selection cycle. It not only shortlists candidates for the next stage but also reaffirms the commission’s efforts to ensure transparency and merit-based recruitment in the state’s public service system. With thousands of engineering aspirants awaiting their next opportunity, the forthcoming main examination will play a critical role in determining the future careers of many young professionals.
