With an aim to inspire and mentor prospective judiciary candidates, the Internship & Placement Cell of the University School of Law and Legal Studies (USLLS), Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), hosted an informative session named Judicial Examination – Tips & Experience. The session saw students and two accomplished alumni who recently obtained exceptional success in the Delhi Judicial Services Examination 2023.

The session began with a warm speech by Prof. (Dr.) Queeny Pradhan, Dean of USLLS, who established an optimistic mood by urging students to follow their dreams diligently and with perseverance. After her speech, Prof. (Dr.) Deepshika Aggarwal accompanied her in felicitating the dignified guests, not just for their recent achievements, but also for their past triumphs in the Rajasthan Judiciary examinations.

The occasion was graced by two notable university alumni: Ms. Samridhi Talwar, who achieved All India Rank (AIR) 1 in the Delhi Judicial Services Examination 2023 and graduated in BBA LLB from the university in 2022, and Ms. Raghavi Govil, who attained AIR 14 in the same examination, having graduated in 2019. Both the speakers not only carried with them their shining credentials but also motivating personal experiences of grit, discipline, and strategic planning.

Ms. Raghavi Govil shared with openness her experience, remembering when she was a law student and her career option was not clearly marked. She explained how, with the passage of time, her interest in the judiciary increased and she actively pursued it. Highlighting the value of a strong foundation, Ms. Govil told the students to clearly study bare acts, solve previous years’ papers on a regular basis, and be themselves during interviews. She emphasized the importance of sincerity in preparation and advised students to stay committed to their dreams against adversity.

Ms. Samridhi Talwar followed her and shared her own motivating experience with determination in the face of failures. She did not hesitate to talk about her early failures and how she had to overcome emotional and academic challenges. Ms. Talwar pointed out that she achieved success when she had a concentrated approach, applying limited high-quality resources, regularly practicing using flashcards, and cultivating intense self-awareness of her strengths and weaknesses. She also emphasized the importance of mock tests, a strict study schedule, and attentive preparation methods in securing top ranks.

A lively Q&A interactive session followed, with the students excitedly asking questions related to balancing preparation with college commitments, time management, and how to stay mentally healthy. Both the alumni provided insightful advice, pointing to the need for balancing coaching with normal academic calendars, making realizable weekly goals, and giving priority to mental health as a key aspect of the preparation process. They talked about how consistent habits and frequent self-assessments could make a big impact in the long run.

The session ended with closing remarks from Dr. Zubair Ahmad Khan, who repeated that the essential ingredients for achieving success in competitive examinations are self-discipline and persistence. He urged the students to draw lessons from the lives of Ms. Talwar and Ms. Govil and chart their own futures with determination and self-confidence.

The session concluded on a positive note with a group photo, encapsulating the spirit of a memorable afternoon filled with motivation, learning, and hope. The session not only gave practical tips on judicial exam preparation but also proved to be a testament to the potential and spirit of USLLS students.
