The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has officially announced the results of the Class X Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exam on May 13, 2025. The results have unleashed a tidal wave of feelings around the state, with the students, parents, and teachers eagerly logging onto official portals to obtain individual marks. The SSC results this year again mirror a consistent academic trend across Maharashtra, along with regional success and gender-based trends.
The results were released on four official portals—mahresult.nic.in, mahahsscboard.in, sscresult.mkcl.org, and sscresult.mahahsscboard.in—from 1 PM. Results can be checked by students by providing their roll number and their mother’s first name as printed on their admit cards. They can also download their provisional mark sheets for future references. The board has also taken the initiative of allowing students to view their results through DigiLocker and SMS, thereby making the process more convenient and accessible.
This year, 1,611,610 students enrolled for the SSC examination, which was held from February 21 to March 17, 2025. Of them, 864,120 were boys, 747,471 were girls, and 19 transgender students. The practical exams had already been held previously, between February 3 and February 20, in the state’s nine educational divisions: Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Konkan, Nashik, Aurangabad (now Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar), Latur, Amravati, and Kolhapur.
The overall pass percentage achieved for the year is a whopping 94.10%, reflecting a steady performance by students in spite of academic setbacks or issues that might have arisen in the background. Girls have again performed better than boys, as has been the trend over the past few years. The girls’ pass percentage was registered at 96.14%, which is 3.83% more than the boys, who achieved a pass percentage of 92.31%. This gap in academic achievement between genders brings to the fore increased educational empowerment and commitment among young women in Maharashtra.
Regionally, Konkan division led the pack with a whopping overall pass percentage of 98.82%. Acclaimed for its academic consistency and emphasis on well-rounded education, Konkan’s sustained leadership speaks volumes about the strength of its regional educational infrastructure. Conversely, Gadchiroli district posted the lowest pass percentage at 82.67%. This wide disparity between districts highlights the resource differences, reach, and socio-economic factors that impact educational achievements.
Among the standout features of the results of this year is how many students achieved a flawless 100% mark. In first place comes Latur with its record of 113 full-scorers. Latur stands out all the more with the district already boasting a name as a hotbed of educational quality and aggressive test preparation tactics. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar is a distant second at 40, followed by Pune at 13. The other districts with a perfect scorer are Kolhapur (12), Amravati (11), Konkan (9), Mumbai (8), Nagpur (3), and Nashik (2). The number of top scorers in different regions also indicates that there is widespread talent and growing competitiveness among students in Maharashtra.
In reply to the announced results, dissatisfied students have been provided with the option to request re-evaluation or mark verification. The application period for the same remains from May 14 through May 28, 2025. Through this measure, transparency in the assessment process is guaranteed and provides an opportunity to the students for a just re-look into their performance.
In addition to that, for the section of students who could not pass the exams or want to better their scores, the Maharashtra board has scheduled supplementary exams for July 2025. Extensive application rules for these exams will be announced later this month, providing another chance for students to move forward without wasting a year of study.
As the dust settles on the declaration of results, the SSC exams of 2025 have not only demonstrated the academic resilience of students but also put in the spotlight the ongoing necessity of equitable educational reforms across districts. With digital means facilitating result declaration and the scope for re-evaluation available, the MSBSHSE is working towards sustaining a student-friendly and transparent examination system.
