Share

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared the results of Class XII board examination today with an overall pass percentage of 88.39%. This is 0.41 percentage points better than last year, indicating a marginal increase in the performance of students. A total of more than 17 lakh students had enrolled for the exam, of which 16,92,794 turned up and around 14,96,307 cleared the exam successfully.

Girl students have once again performed better than boys. The pass rate among girls is a whopping 91.64%, 5.94 percentage points higher than the boys’ pass rate. In a spectacular feat, all transgender students who sat for the exam passed with a 100% pass rate.

The exams were taken from February 15 to April 4, 2025, and had the participation of over 44 lakh students of both Class X and XII. To be more specific, an approximate number of 24.12 lakh students took Class X and 17.88 lakh took Class XII.

Students are now able to access their scorecards from various platforms such as CBSE’s official websites, DigiLocker, UMANG app, SMS services, and Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS). This multi-platform facility allows students from all parts of the country and with different internet access facilities to access their results without any hiccups.

Of the foreign schools who are affiliated with CBSE, 21,825 students had enrolled and 21,782 took the exams. 20,694 students from foreign schools passed the exam, reflecting the board’s strong global performance. The overall pass percentage for foreign schools is high and consistent with previous years.

As far as institutional performance goes, government-aided institutions have shown a pass percentage of 91.57%, followed by central government institutions such as Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) and Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVS) showing out-of-the-class performance once again. JNVs registered 99.29% pass marks and KVS followed suit at 99.05%. Sambhota Tibetan Schools Society (STSS) also posted good results by attaining 98.96% pass percentage. Government schools have posted a pass rate of 90.48%, while private independent schools were at 87.94%.

Region-wise, Vijayawada topped the list with a maximum pass percentage of 99.60%, followed by Trivandrum at 99.32% and Bengaluru at 97.39%. Bengaluru (95.95%), Delhi West (95.37%), and Delhi East (95.06%) also fared well. On the lower side were Prayagraj with a pass percentage of 79.53%, Noida at 81.29%, and Bhopal at 82.46%, indicating some geographical disparities that could necessitate additional educational interventions.

For students who want to download their results, the CBSE official website https://results.cbse.nic.in/ is still the main portal. Students can obtain and download their mark sheets by inserting their roll number, school number, centre number, and admit card ID. Students who want to use mobile applications may do so through DigiLocker or the UMANG app. DigiLocker offers electronic copies of certificates and mark sheets, accessible through a security PIN and an OTP-based verification mechanism. The UMANG app provides the same experience for users on the Android and iOS platforms.

Students can also obtain their results through IVRS by calling 24300699 using the proper STD code, and results will be announced after providing the necessary details. SMS services have also been provided. Students just need to send an SMS in the pattern “cbse12” with their roll number, school code, and centre number to 7738299899.

For students who are not satisfied with their performance or suspect mistakes, the CBSE has made it easier for re-evaluation and checking of marks through its online platform. Students need to score a minimum of 33% in each subject to pass.

This year’s results again demonstrate the consistent academic performance of central government schools and showcase the constant efforts of Indian students. With increased digital reach and support systems, CBSE continues to widen educational inclusivity and transparency in the process of result dissemination. Further updates will follow as schools start releasing detailed student performances and subject-wise toppers.
