IITD-Abu Dhabi Launches Chemical Engineering BTech 2025

Share

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi – Abu Dhabi (IITD-AD) is all set to expand its academic offerings with a new BTech programme in Chemical Engineering for the academic year 2025-26. This is a significant development for the relatively new campus, which began operations in January 2024. Alongside this, the institute has also announced the commencement of admissions for the second batch of its undergraduate programmes, reinforcing its commitment to academic excellence and growth.

IITD-AD will introduce three BTech programmes for the 2025-26 academic session. The three programmes that will be available are Computer Science and Engineering, Energy Science and Engineering, and Chemical Engineering. These four-year programmes will equip the students with a strong foundation in their respective areas of study as the world has an increasing demand for technology, energy, and engineering professionals.

Admissions to the above programs shall be done through two streams, JEE Advanced 2025 and CAET 2025. CAET shall be conducted in two sessions and shall be one of the salient features of IITD-AD admissions. The first session is on 16th February 2025, and the second one is scheduled for 13th April 2025. The candidate who attends both sessions will have the higher score considered for the final selection process, thus providing an opportunity to improve their performance.

The CAET 2025 is a three-hour pen-and-paper test conducted in English. There would be 60 questions divided proportionately between the three subjects—Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, testing core subjects’ understanding by the student. Test centres would be organized at Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and New Delhi for these tests. As for the requirement in the following session, a couple of new centers could also be added depending upon the request from the area. The institute has made provisions to accommodate UAE nationals, international students, and Indian expatriates who have completed their high school and at least five years of prior education in the UAE, ensuring a diverse and inclusive student body.

The other unique allocation scheme IITD-AD has in place for admissions is based on one-third of the total seats being allocated through JEE Advanced 2025 and two-thirds of them being allocated by CAET 2025. Early admission to the best performing candidates in the first session of CAET determines the final seat allocation based on a combined merit list and choices of the candidate after the second session.

This new program aligns with IITD-AD’s overall academic vision. Since inception, the institute has initiated various programs such as MTech in Energy Transition and Sustainability, BTech programs in Computer Science and Engineering and Energy Science and Engineering, and PhD in Energy and Sustainability. Adding the Chemical Engineering program further enhances the breadth of academics and indicates the focus of the institute toward tackling global issues related to energy, technology, and environmental sustainability.

IITD-AD will attract the best talent from all over the world by offering cutting-edge programs and adopting a dual-mode admission process. The inclusion of Chemical Engineering underlines the commitment of the institute towards innovation and preparation of students for emerging industries. The structured CAET system will provide an accessible platform for students in the UAE and beyond, thereby ensuring that talented individuals from diverse backgrounds get a chance to join the prestigious institution.

IITD-AD continues to set benchmarks for higher education in the UAE, combining the expertise of IIT Delhi with a vision for global impact. With its expanding academic offerings, state-of-the-art facilities, and a focus on sustainability and innovation, the institute is poised to become a hub for excellence in education and research. As admissions open for the 2025-26 academic year, IITD-AD invites aspiring engineers and technologists to be part of its journey toward shaping the future.
