The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has formally opened the registration process for admissions to Class XI for the academic year 2025–2027. Students who have passed their 10th grade examinations under the CBSE, ICSE, or Bihar Board can apply for admission in the arts, science, or commerce streams. The admission process registration is carried out by way of the Online Facilitation System (OFSS) portal and the window period for making an application shall close on May 3, 2025.
Students who wish to apply for Class XI must first visit the official OFSS website at ofssbihar.net. Once on the website, they have to click on the ‘Common Application Form’ section, from where they will be led to a webpage with elaborate instructions and guidelines on how to register. It is necessary for applicants to read the guidelines attentively before continuing. Having familiarized themselves with the process, they can advance to the next step by clicking on the ‘submit’ button.
During the subsequent steps, students need to complete the application form by entering required information like personal details, academic background, and contact details. They are also supposed to upload a recent photo and their signature while making the application. Upon filling the form, candidates will be prompted to submit the application. Subsequently, students will choose their desired courses and schools or colleges, depending on which their admission will be made.
After the successful submission of the application, students are advised to download a copy of the application form for their reference. It is important to retain a hard copy of the application form and other documents for future reference, particularly during subsequent phases of the admission process.
For the finalization of the registration process, students will have to make an application fee payment of Rs 350, which has been updated this year. The fee has been increased by Rs 50 compared to last year. The application will be valid only after the fee payment is made successfully. Applications made without paying the fee will be rejected, so students are advised to pay the fee as soon as possible.
The Class XI admission merit list will be prepared on the basis of the students’ marks in the Class X board exams. The BSEB will release three different merit lists, and the students will be distributed among the schools and colleges based on the rank they have in the merit list. The candidates whose names do not feature in any of the merit lists will have to apply for admission under the spot admission process, which is a backup procedure for students to get admitted to Class XI if they do not get a school under the merit process.
Apart from the registration information, students must also prepare the required documents in advance. The documents required are marksheets of the 10th-grade examinations, recent photos, category certificates (if any), and any other documents required. Preparing these in advance will make the application process easy and hassle-free.
For the current academic year, the Bihar Board declared the Class X results on March 29, 2025. As many as 1,558,077 students sat for the Bihar Board Matric exam, and 1,279,294 of them passed, achieving a pass percentage of 82.11%.
