JEE Main 2025 Session-I Sees 94.4% Attendance Rate

The National Testing Agency (NTA) successfully conducted the JEE Main 2025 Session-I and UGC-NET December 2024 examinations, marking a significant milestone with impressive attendance rates for both major national-level tests. The agency ensured that the examinations were conducted seamlessly with comprehensive security protocols and monitoring measures.

JEE Main 2025 Session-I was held between January 22 and January 30, 2025. The examination was conducted in 598 centres across 284 cities in India and 15 cities in other countries outside India. Total number of applicants for this examination was 13,78,232 and the total number of appearing candidates in both Paper 1 and Paper 2 was 13,00,273 with an attendance rate of 94.4%. This phenomenal turnout underlines the significance of the JEE Main examination as a gateway for engineering aspirants all over the country.

Meanwhile, the UGC-NET December 2024 was conducted between 3 January 2025 to 27 January 2025. The exams took place at 558 centres in 266 cities. Altogether, 8,49,166 registered candidates attended; out of that, 6,49,490 candidates appeared to take the test, which equals an attendance rate of 76.5%. The UGC-NET is a mandatory qualifying test for aspirants who want to qualify to teach as assistant professors and for other research fellowships available in most of Indian universities and colleges.

The NTA undertook a number of strict security and operational arrangements to ensure that the examinations were conducted without any disturbances. Apart from using live CCTV surveillance and biometric verification, the agency installed mobile jammers at all examination centers to prevent any malpractice that might have been attempted. The Drawing Test for JEE (Main) Paper-II was conducted in the traditional pen-and-paper mode, while all other exams followed the Computer-Based Test (CBT) format.

For efficient and careful administration, a significant number of City Coordinators and Observers were deputed to every examination centre, who maintained it and made all operations quite streamlined. Such a massive amount of coordination by personnel contributed greatly in preserving the process transparent and trustworthy. State and district level officers and other government authorities along with the city coordinators are hereby extended gratitude from the agency for cooperation and the zeal of this set of officers and personnel to achieve such high successes of examinations.

The NTA, while admitting the constructive role played by the candidates themselves, acknowledged as essential steps toward the successful conduct of the examinations their cooperation and adherence to guidelines. Collective effort by various stakeholders underscores the importance of teamwork and meticulous planning in handling large-scale national examinations.
