The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced the results for the Combined Hindi Translators (CHT) 2024 Paper-I exam officially. The commission has shortlisted 2,145 candidates who will now be able to appear for Paper II, the descriptive phase of the exam. Candidates who took the exam can now view their results on the official SSC website.
The CHT 2024 Paper-I exam was held on December 9, 2024, in computer-based mode. The assessment of the exam performance was done on the basis of the final answer key, which was published after resolving all objections made by candidates. The answer keys were thoroughly checked, and required changes were made prior to their utilization for assessment. The commission has also assured that the final answer key, question papers, and marks of both qualified and non-qualified candidates will be uploaded on the website shortly.
For Paper-I, the minimum qualifying percentage of marks was fixed as per the candidate categories. Applicants from the Unreserved (UR) category were required to have at least 30% marks, while the minimum requirement for applicants from Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) was 25%. All other applicants had a threshold of 20% marks as the qualifying mark. The cut-off marks were different across different categories, and the UR and OBC candidates were required to have 150.75 marks, whereas EWS candidates had to have 131.25 marks in order to qualify. Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates had a cut-off of 126.75, and Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates had a cut-off of 96.50. For the Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) categories, the Orthopedically Handicapped (OH) candidates required at least 115.50 marks, Hearing Handicapped (HH) candidates had a cut-off of 75.75, Visually Handicapped (VH) candidates required 42.00, and Other PwBD candidates had a cut-off of 40.00.
2,145 candidates cleared Paper-I and have been shortlisted for Paper II. Out of these, 338 candidates are from the EWS category, 431 are from the ST category, and 182 are from the SC category. The OBC category has the largest number of shortlisted candidates at 539, followed by the UR category with 570 candidates. Out of PwBD candidates, 44 OH candidates, 12 HH candidates, 19 VH candidates, and 10 belonging to the Other PwBD category have also made it through. Moreover, some candidates from reserved categories had made it through at the UR standard but have been added to their respective categories. These include 107 SC, 24 ST, 406 OBC, 183 EWS, 13 OH, one HH, and one Other PwBD candidate.
Since the Paper-I results have been announced, the schedule for Paper II, the descriptive test, would be announced soon by the commission. This step will finalize the selection of the candidates for the posts. The complete schedule of Paper II would be posted on the SSC website in due time. Candidates can check the official website from time to time to get information on the exam date and other allied notifications.
The SSC has also stressed the transparency of the evaluation process, ensuring that all representations made about the answer key were thoroughly scrutinized. Corrections were done as necessary before the evaluation criteria were finalized. This ensures that all candidates have been evaluated equally based on the most accurate possible answer key.
For the selected candidates, Paper II will be a crucial phase to get admitted into the final selection process. It is a descriptive paper through which candidates’ translation and writing abilities in Hindi and English shall be tested. Since Paper I consisted of objective-type questions, Paper II shall examine candidates’ practical usage of their language knowledge. The final merit list will be compiled according to candidates’ overall scores achieved in both papers.
Candidates are also advised to download their scorecards from the official website as soon as they are uploaded. The final answer keys and question papers will be uploaded by the commission shortly to enable candidates to evaluate their performance. Candidates who are not selected can also view their scores to determine their position and prepare themselves for future attempts better.
As the SSC continues with the selection process, Paper II candidates should now concentrate on preparing for the descriptive exam. The commission is likely to give out the date for Paper II in the near future, and candidates should keep themselves updated with the SSC’s latest notifications. The next phase will play a critical role in deciding the ultimate selection of Hindi Translators, and it will thus be vital for the candidates to prepare thoroughly.
