The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the final results of the Combined Defence Services (CDS) Examination (II) 2024, and the names of the selected candidates for admission to different elite defence academies have been put out. As many as 349 candidates have been selected on the basis of their performance in the written exam and the interviews held by the Services Selection Board (SSB). These aspirants have got seats in the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), and Air Force Academy (AFA), where they will receive intense training to become a part of the Indian Armed Forces.

The CDS test is among the most prestigious means of joining the Indian defence forces, and the ultimate selection is the culmination of various phases, viz., written tests and personal interviews. This year, the UPSC has released individual merit lists for all three of the academies: IMA, INA, and AFA, with a few candidates being included in more than one list depending on their performance. In particular, 2,534 candidates made it to the IMA written exam, 900 candidates cleared the INA written test, and 613 candidates qualified for the AFA written examination.

Following the written test, the candidates who cleared the tests were called for the interview round, which was organized by the SSB. It is noteworthy that the results of the medical examination were not considered while making the final merit lists. Candidates shortlisted according to the final merit are currently in the stage of provisional selection, as the verification of their date of birth and educational credentials is being conducted at the concerned Army, Naval, or Air headquarters. Verification is an important step prior to their final induction into the concerned academies.

To verify the results, candidates can log in to the official UPSC website and click on the “Examination” tab, under which they will find the “Active Examinations” or “Results” option. They can then click on the link for the CDS (II) 2024 result, which will lead them to the merit list in PDF format. The file will contain the names of all shortlisted candidates along with their respective academy and qualification information.

The UPSC has noted that the candidature of shortlisted candidates is subject to cancellation if documents are found to be false. Candidates will be required to provide original certificates, including the proof of date of birth and educational qualification, and attested photocopies to the respective authorities at Army, Naval, or Air headquarters based on their first choice. This verification is expected to ensure that all candidates meet the eligibility criteria before they are officially enrolled for training.

Along with the release of the final results, the UPSC has also stated that the candidates’ detailed marks will be posted on its website once the final results of the Officers’ Training Academy (OTA) under the CDS (II) 2025 test are declared. This will enable candidates to check their personal performance data once the OTA results also stand finalized.

Success of the shortlisted candidates who cleared the tough selection process is proof of their determination, grit, and hard work. With the results finally out, candidates can now look forward to joining the ranks of India’s top defence academy for their training, from where they would be molded into future officers in the Indian Armed Forces.

The declaration of the CDS (II) 2024 final results concludes one of India’s most competitive defence service selection processes. The exam not only evaluates the candidates’ intellectual abilities but also their physical and mental ability, to select only the best possible candidates for service in the defence forces of the country. As the successful candidates start their path to becoming commissioned officers, the country looks forward to the role they will play in ensuring the security and sovereignty of the nation.

Finally, the CDS (II) 2024 final results present a moment of victory for the successful candidates and their families. Even as the provisional selection process is still on, these candidates now get a chance to test their metal in the training academies, where they will be given intensive training and grooming for a prestigious career in the Indian Armed Forces. As the last stages of document verification and admission are worked out, the excitement and eagerness for these future commanders of India’s army keep mounting.
