Recently, the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has published an advertisement for the Combined State Engineering Services (General/Special Recruitment) Examination – 2024. The main objective behind this recruitment process is to fill different engineering positions in the state. Eligible candidates who wish to register for the examination can submit applications online through the official website of UPPSC. The last date for registering applications is January 17, 2025. And the last date for correcting and modifying submitted applications as per fee reconciliation is on January 24, 2025.

Before doing the application, it’s a must for all that they should do the One Time Registration (OTR) process through the UPPSC website. It is a pre-requirement to receive the OTR number. A candidate needs to do that before filling out an online application. The applicants, if they haven’t yet got the OTR number, are suggested to make this arrangement at least 72 hours prior to submission. The official link is there to receive the OTR: https://otr.pariksha.nic.in/. After the receipt of OTR number, the candidate should then fill in his/her details through the website of UPPSC: https://uppsc.up.nic.in.

Candidates are asked to maintain a copy of all the details and documents involved in the application process when submitting their online application. These include the OTR number, fee payment receipt, and corrections or modifications done in the application form. All these details should be stored either in soft or hard copy for future reference.

It should be clarified that in the preliminary stage of the test, no candidates are instructed to forward their hard copies of their online application or other supporting documents to UPPSC. Nonetheless, once requested by the Commission from time to time, candidate must present self-attested hard copies of all mark sheets and certificates accompanied with supporting documentations used while applying that supports candidature claimed through online application forms.

As for eligibility, the UPPSC has specified that emergency commissioned or short-service commissioned officers, who are still serving in the Army but have had their service period extended for rehabilitation purposes, may also apply for this examination. These candidates will have to furnish a certificate from the relevant authority in the Army, Navy, or Air Force, stating that their period of service has been extended for rehabilitation purposes and that no disciplinary action is pending against them. In addition, such candidates will have to furnish a written undertaking stating that if they are selected for the post applied for, they will be released from the Army forthwith.

However, this facility is not available to emergency commissioned officers or short-service commissioned officers who have been permanent commissioned in the Army and also those who have relinquished their jobs. This provision is also not available for those released from the Army on grounds of misconduct and physical disability, and persons who have been granted gratuity.

In addition, there is a restriction on the marital status of candidates. Male candidates who have more than one wife and female candidates who are married to a person already having a wife will not be eligible to apply for the examination, unless an exemption is granted by the Governor.

Interested candidates are advised to read the official advertisement carefully to get detailed information about the application process, eligibility criteria, and other important instructions. The official advertisement is available on the UPPSC website for reference. This examination provides a great opportunity for aspiring candidates who want to join the state’s engineering services, and candidates are encouraged to ensure that they meet all the required criteria and go through the application process with care to avoid any discrepancies.
