The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) released the datesheet for the compartment exam of Class 10 and Class 12 for the year 2025. The datesheet has been made available online for students from all three streams—arts, commerce, and science. The candidates who failed in their board exams back in the first half of this year will now get a second chance to better their performance and obtain a pass certificate. Students can view the full schedule by logging onto the official BSEB website at biharboardonline.bihar.gov.in.
The Bihar Board held the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams during the months of January and February 2025. Although a large number of students cleared the exams, a huge number were unable to get the passing marks. The latter group of students is now eligible to appear for the compartment exams. Compartment exams will take place between May 2 and May 15, 2025, for both Class 10 and Class 12 candidates.
In order to pass the compartment exam, the candidates should score at least 33 percent marks. This is the minimum requirement by the BSEB, and students who do not meet this mark will not be regarded as having passed. The exams will take place twice a day. The first shift will start at 9:30 am and end at 12:45 pm, and the second shift will be conducted from 2 pm to 5:15 pm. Students will also be provided with a 15-minute cool-off time before the examination starts. This time has been planned so that candidates can thoroughly read the question paper and make a proper plan for answers before commencing writing.
This year, a total number of 15,58,077 students appeared for the Class 10 Bihar board exams. Out of this number, 12,79,294 candidates passed, while 2,78,783 students did not pass the threshold. This has yielded an aggregate pass percentage of 82.11 percent. On a gender basis, results indicate that a total number of 7,52,685 male candidates wrote the exam. Among these, 6,29,620 were passed and 1,23,065 failed, resulting in a pass percentage of 83.65 percent. Compared to them, 8,05,392 girls who appeared for the exam got 6,49,674 through and 1,55,718 failed. This results in a lower pass percentage of 80.67 percent for the girls’ candidates.
The BSEB had previously held the Class 12th practical exams from January 10 to January 20, 2025. The theory exams for Class 12 were held between February 1 and February 15, 2025. For Class 10, the internal and practical exams were held between January 21 and January 23, and then the theory papers were held between February 17 and February 25, 2025.
Aspirants to the compartment exams are also requested to utilize the official resources available from the Bihar Board. It is a must for candidates to remain informed with respect to every notification published by the BSEB, such as admit card dates, eligibility norms for appearing in the exams, and other important guidance. Practical tests for the candidates who are needed to appear will be held on May 14 and May 15, 2025. Students who are needed to appear for practical examinations should prepare accordingly and check the venues and timings as released by the board.
The compartment exams are a valuable chance for the students to recover from their past performance and not lose an entire academic year. As the exam schedule is around the corner, students are advised to concentrate on revising important points, practicing question papers of earlier years, and taking guidance from teachers as well as academic counselors whenever necessary. The BSEB also suggests remaining calm and confident while preparing.
In summary, Bihar School Examination Board’s declaration of the schedule of the 2025 compartment exams is a landmark for those students who are being given a second chance to pass their board examinations. With a well-structured timetable, distinct passing requirements, and scheduled shifts, the board has guaranteed an organized process for the exams in the coming year. The aspirants are motivated to prepare assiduously and utilize this second chance effectively in order to clear and progress with their academic path.
