The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) recently declared an extension for online application submissions under its Merit Scholarship Schemes to facilitate meritorious female students. Under this, new applications can be submitted for the Single Girl Child Scholarship Scheme 2024 and renewals for the 2023 scheme. This initiative demonstrates how CBSE is keen to promote education among single girl children by providing financial aid to deserving candidates.
The Single Girl Child Scholarship is a targeted program, which aims to encourage and support female students who are single children of their parents. This scheme is an important step towards ensuring equal educational opportunities for young girls and reducing the financial burden on their families. Eligible students who qualify for the scholarship can now submit new applications for the 2024 scheme, and those who wish to renew their 2023 scholarships are also welcome to apply within the newly extended deadline.
According to the new timeline, students will be able to submit their applications by January 10, 2025. Subsequently, schools will confirm these applications by January 17, 2025, and the process would be completed in a streamlined manner. This extension gives time to candidates and schools for documentation and other formalities to complete, thereby allowing everyone eligible to participate without any hurdles.
The scholarship eligibility criteria are not altered as such, as this scholarship has been designed according to its purpose. They should be the only child of their parents and have at least scored 60% in the CBSE Class 10 Examination. Furthermore, they must be studying in Class 11 or Class 12 in a school affiliated to CBSE. The applicants are Indian nationals. Students staying in India as well as NRIs studying abroad can apply for this scholarship. For NRI students, however, it will be capped at Rs 6,000 per month while in the case of a student from India, the benefit would cover up to Rs 1,500 a month with a 10% annual increment for Classes 11 and 12.
It makes provision for considerable amounts of funds to the meritorious students so that a significant part of the tuition fee could be paid. Most importantly, this scholarship will enable students to receive education without any sorts of financial hurdles and help them go towards empowering girls through education. The project addresses single girl children in order to work on gender disparity in education and, hence, emphasize the need to support young girls to achieve their academic aspirations.
The CBSE has appealed to candidates to submit the applications on or before extended deadlines to process their applications in a timely manner. Fresh candidates as well as renewal-seeking candidates can log on to the official website of the CBSE at www.cbse.gov.in under the heading of Scholarship Link for exhaustive details on terms and conditions and procedures for applying.
Extension of the Application deadlines by CBSE also reveals that they are totally devoted to bringing inclusive educational support towards all the candidates. Along with this effort, many more young girls get easy ways to follow their aspirations and ensure smooth progress for their studies rather than getting a way through economic problems.
