In a recent update concerning the highly anticipated Andhra Pradesh DSC (District Selection Committee) 2025 teacher recruitment examinations, the Andhra Pradesh Department of School Education has announced the postponement of exams originally scheduled for June 20 and 21. These exams will now take place on July 1 and 2, 2025. The decision was taken in light of the logistical challenges posed by the preparations for the International Yoga Day celebrations, which are to be held on June 21 in Visakhapatnam.
An official notice published on the department’s website confirms this rescheduling and urges all candidates to take note of the revised dates. In line with the new schedule, updated hall tickets bearing critical information such as the revised exam dates and test centres will be made available for download on June 25. Candidates who have registered for the DSC examination are advised to log in to the official Mega DSC–2025 portal at apdsc.apcfss.in to access their new hall tickets once released.
This postponement comes amid the department’s larger recruitment campaign aimed at addressing the shortage of qualified teachers across the state. The ongoing recruitment process, commonly known as the Mega DSC 2025, seeks to fill a substantial number of 16,347 teaching vacancies across Andhra Pradesh. Of these, 14,088 posts are allocated at the district level, while the remaining 2,259 are meant for state-level or zonal appointments. The application window for these posts was open between April 20 and May 15, and the selection process is progressing in phases through computer-based tests (CBTs), scheduled from June 6 to July 6.
The Mega DSC 2025 recruitment initiative is part of a larger promise made by the state’s newly elected government in the run-up to the 2024 legislative elections. Establishing an annual job calendar and expediting teacher recruitment were among the key commitments highlighted in the ruling party’s manifesto. With the implementation of this recruitment drive, the government aims to address the teacher shortage in government-run schools and improve the overall quality of education across the state.
As the examinations unfold in various phases, data from earlier tests indicates a strong response and participation from aspiring candidates. The School Assistant (Social Studies) examination, which took place earlier this week, witnessed a commendable turnout. Out of 38,243 candidates who had registered for this specific subject test, as many as 36,372 candidates appeared for the examination, marking an impressive attendance rate of 95.11%. The exam was conducted smoothly across 227 designated centres throughout Andhra Pradesh. Notably, the morning session saw the highest attendance in Anantapur district at 97.84%, while Chittoor district led in the afternoon session with 97.98% attendance, reflecting the seriousness and enthusiasm among candidates.
In terms of eligibility, the Department of School Education has laid down clear academic and age-related criteria for applicants. Candidates were required to have successfully completed Intermediate or Senior Secondary education (or its equivalent), recognised by the Andhra Pradesh Board of Intermediate Education, with a minimum score of 50%. However, candidates belonging to reserved categories such as SC, ST, BC, or those with disabilities were allowed a relaxation, requiring only 45% marks. In addition, aspiring teachers needed to have completed a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education or a four-year Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education to qualify for application.
The age limit for applicants was set between 18 and 44 years as of July 1, 2025. As per standard government recruitment rules, candidates from reserved categories were granted age relaxation, ensuring inclusivity and wider access to the employment opportunity.
With the new exam dates officially declared, the department is expected to ensure that all necessary arrangements are in place to conduct the exams seamlessly in July. The candidates are advised to stay updated by regularly checking the official portal for any additional announcements or changes related to the recruitment process.
As the state moves ahead with this major recruitment drive, the response so far suggests a strong interest among qualified individuals in contributing to the educational landscape of Andhra Pradesh. With over 16,000 teaching positions up for grabs, the Mega DSC 2025 could be a significant milestone in strengthening the state’s public education infrastructure and delivering on promises of better educational access and quality for future generations.
