The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will hold the Class XII board examination of Physics, which is the sixth day of the continuing board exams. Being one of the most important subjects for the science students, the Physics paper will be conducted in one shift between 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. There will be 15 minutes of reading time before students can begin writing down their answers. The exam would be tough but balanced and would lay an emphasis on competency-based questions to promote analytical thinking.

The CBSE Class XII board exams were commenced on February 15, 2025, and the examinations of a number of subjects have already been completed. The papers that have been held so far include Entrepreneurship, Physical Education, and Hindustani Music (both Vocal and Melody Instruments). Besides these, vocational stream students have also finished their examination in subjects such as Automotive, Healthcare, Data Science, Electronics, and Hardware. There were other papers including Food Production, Office Procedures & Practices, Design, and Early Childhood Care & Education. There had also been a recent study preceding Physics on the subject of Typography and Computer Applications.

Students who are sitting for the Physics paper and the other remaining papers need to carry their CBSE Class XII admit card 2025 and their school ID to the exam center. Admit cards were issued on February 3, 2025, and are a requirement for getting into the exam hall. Without these, students will not be permitted to write their exams.

In a bid to preserve discipline and promote the just conduct of the exams, CBSE has set a list of rules that will be followed by all students. The board has forbidden students strongly from bringing printed or written text material, scraps of paper, or calculators with them except for students suffering from Dyscalculia and needing them as assistance. Electronic gadgets like mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, earphones, microphones, pagers, health bands, smartwatches, and cameras are also not permitted within the examination hall. These are implemented to avoid any cases of malpractices and ensure the authenticity of the examination process.

Also, students cannot carry personal items like wallets, goggles, handbags, and pouches to the exam hall. As far as food and drink are concerned, CBSE has put a ban on all such food items that are opened or packed. The only exception given is to diabetic students, for whom certain food items are allowed to be brought along for health reasons. CBSE has also made it clear that anything which might be used to cheat or give an undue advantage will be strictly prohibited. These stringent steps are a testament to CBSE’s dedication to having a transparent and genuine examination process.

Regarding the passing requirements, students need to score at least 33% marks in all subjects, including theory as well as practical. The Physics paper uses the regular CBSE marking scheme, with 80 marks for the theory exam and 20 marks set aside for practicals, projects, and internal assessments. These marks will differ marginally subject-wise, but the 33% minimum requirement holds true in all papers.

One of the most significant modifications in the CBSE Class XII board exams in 2025 is the redesigning of the question paper format. In keeping with the National Education Policy (NEP) and CBSE’s initiative towards application-based learning, the board has incorporated a higher number of competency-based questions. These are meant to evaluate students’ knowledge and analytical skills instead of memorization. Parallelly, CBSE has cut down constructed response questions (CRQs) by 10%, making the assessment process more balanced and complete. The new pattern is intended to enable students to think analytically and solve problems, applying their learned knowledge properly, which will be helpful for higher education and professional life.

Since the Physics paper is one of the most important papers for students pursuing the science stream, emphasis will be placed on mechanics, electromagnetism, optics, and modern physics concepts. Students have been working hard for this subject, as it will determine their overall performance in the board exams and their qualification for competitive exams like JEE and NEET. Most schools and coaching institutes have held thorough revision classes, mock tests, and doubt-clearing sessions to ensure that the students do well.

As the board exams go on, students are told to remain calm, use their time wisely, and be careful with accuracy while writing their responses. They should also ensure that they read all instructions thoroughly and try all questions within the allotted time. Parents and teachers have been urging students constantly to keep a balanced study routine, take breaks regularly, and sleep well to prevent stress and anxiety during this critical phase.

With rigorous guidelines and a new question paper design, the CBSE Class XII board examinations are going to assess students’ knowledge and application skills properly. Since the Physics paper is scheduled, the students will have to prove their grasp of essential concepts and problem-solving skills in order to fetch good marks.
