IGNOU Extends Admission And Re-Registration Deadline

Share

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has announced an extension for admission and re-registration deadlines for all its Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and online programmes. Students now have until February 15 to complete their applications. This extension provides aspiring learners with more time to secure a spot in various educational programmes and continue their academic pursuits.

Besides the admissions update, IGNOU has also informed eligible students about the availability of Government of India Scholarships, which can be accessed through the National Scholarship Portal at https://scholarships.gov.in/. However, students can only apply for these scholarships after confirming their admission at the university. The scholarship scheme aims to support students from various socio-economic backgrounds in pursuing higher education without financial constraints.

For those seeking admission for the first time, IGNOU recommends thoroughly exploring the programme details on its official website. Applicants should carefully review eligibility criteria, fee structures, and programme durations. The university also provides a downloadable common prospectus, which contains comprehensive information about the available courses and guidelines to help students navigate the admission process efficiently.

To register, applicants must first create a new account by selecting the “New Registration” option in the applicant login area. Once the required registration details are filled out, users can preview their application forms and save or print them for future reference. Prospective students are advised to ensure accurate entry of information and proper uploading of documents, particularly when seeking assistance from cybercafés. Attention to detail is crucial for avoiding errors that may impact the application process.

IGNOU has specific rules regarding the registration fee, cancellation of admission, and refund policies. The registration fee is non-refundable. However, if a cancellation request is made before admission confirmation, the programme fee will be refunded. If a request is submitted after confirmation, 15% of the programme fee, up to a maximum deduction of Rs 2,000, will be withheld. For students who have chosen a soft copy of the study material, only the registration fee will be deducted during refunds. Special provisions are in place for students who have availed themselves of fee exemptions, where only the development fee will be refunded if a cancellation request is made. No refunds will be provided after 60 days from the admissions closing date.

Before beginning the online registration process, applicants must prepare and upload several documents in prescribed formats. These include a scanned photograph and signature, each less than 100 KB in size, and educational qualification documents not exceeding 200 KB. If applicable, candidates must also provide scanned copies of experience certificates and category certificates for SC/ST/OBC candidates within the same size limits.

The extension of admission and re-registration deadlines underscores IGNOU’s commitment to providing accessible and flexible education opportunities to learners across the country. The availability of scholarships through the National Scholarship Portal further enhances the university’s efforts to support students from diverse backgrounds in achieving their educational goals. By easing financial barriers and offering comprehensive academic programmes, IGNOU continues to play a significant role in India’s higher education landscape.

Interested candidates are encouraged to act promptly to complete the admission and registration processes by the newly extended deadline of February 15.
