Share

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has declared the Class X results of the academic year 2024–25 with a marginal increase in national pass percentage. In this year, 93.66% students have cleared the exam smoothly, with an increase compared to the previous year when it was 93.60%. The growth, though slight, is reflective of the unremitting hard work by students and teachers nationwide, particularly in the south where the performance was simply brilliant.

A total of 2,371,939 students took the examination this year, and 2,221,636 of them passed. This year’s statistics also indicate a general increase in the number of participants, with 2,385,079 students registered as against 2,251,812 in 2024. The examinations were held between 15 February and 18 March 2025 at 7,837 centres within the country and overseas, and 26,675 schools took part—an increase from last year’s 25,724 schools and 7,603 centres.

One of the most significant highlights of the 2025 outcomes is the persistent intellectual advantage exhibited by girls relative to boys. With a pass rate of 95.00%, girls defeated boys by 2.37 percentage points, with the latter coming in at 92.63%. The performance of the transgender students also improved immensely this year with a pass rate of 95.00% compared to 91.30% in 2024. The Children with Special Needs (CWSN) passed at a whopping percentage of 96.02% with 8,795 out of 9,160 students who appeared passing.

Region-wise, southern India continued to dominate the rankings, with Trivandrum and Vijayawada emerging as the top-performing regions, both achieving a near-perfect pass rate of 99.79%. They were followed by Bengaluru at 98.90%, Chennai at 98.71%, and Pune at 96.54%. At the lower end of the scale, Noida achieved a pass percentage of 89.41%, while Guwahati achieved 84.14%, showing the regional variations in performance.

Delhi schools recorded well above the national average, with Delhi East recording a pass rate of 95.07% and Delhi West a narrow margin ahead at 95.24%. Overall, Delhi registered a consolidated pass percentage of 95.14%. Foreign CBSE-saffiliated schools too continued their good performance, recording a pass percentage of 98.57%, narrowly behind last year’s 98.61%. A total of 29,745 students from foreign schools appeared, out of which 29,320 passed.

With regard to student achievement, 199,944 students achieved over 90%, which represented 8.43% of the total. Additionally, 45,516, or 1.92%, exceeded the 95% level. Of Children with Special Needs, 411 achieved over 90% and 66 exceeded the 95% level, reflecting inclusive excellence in academic performance.

Institutional rankings again topped Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNV) and Kendriya Vidyalayas (KV) with pass percentages of 99.49% and 99.45%, respectively. Independent schools were next at 94.17%, followed by state board schools (STSS) at 91.53%. Government schools had a pass rate of 89.26%, while government-aided schools trailed behind at 83.94%, showing scope for targeted educational reforms.

The figure of students admitted to the compartment category increased marginally this year. Approximately 141,353 candidates (5.96%) were admitted to the compartment list, against 132,337 (5.91%) during the previous year. The increase, while marginal, indicates further necessity for academic support and intervention among struggling students.

CBSE collaborated with the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and NeGD to provide seamless digital access to results and academic reports. Students can check their results on the official CBSE websites—cbse.gov.in, results.nic.in, results.digilocker.gov.in, and umang.gov.in. Additionally, mobile apps like DigiLocker and UMANG have made it convenient for students to access their mark-sheets, migration certificates, and other official documents. The academic records are available digitally through DigiLocker’s “Parinam Manjusha” repository. Schools, including international CBSE affiliates, can download student documents from the same platform or raise support tickets for assistance.

With consistent enhancements in attendance, pass percentages, and online facilitation, the CBSE Class X result of 2025 indicates a positive trend for the Indian secondary education system, highlighting the resilience and commitment of students, teachers, and educational institutions as well.
