NBSE Declares Class X, XII Results; Marksheet Distribution

Share

The Nagaland Board of Secondary Education (NBSE) announced the results of the Class X (High School Leaving Certificate – HSLC) and Class XII (Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate – HSSLC) board exams on April 25, 2025. The eagerly awaited results were made available online on the NBSE’s official website so that thousands of students all over the state could view their performance report online.

Students who took the NBSE board exams this year can view their results by visiting the official website of the board — https://nbsenl.edu.in. On reaching the homepage, applicants must click on the specific HSLC or HSSLC result link, fill in the roll number and password, and submit to see their scores. The board has enabled both viewing and download of results on its website, providing students and parents with an easy and accessible experience. Although the board has not announced the time for online release of results, it only assured that the scores would be out in the afternoon.

NBSE held the Class X HSLC exams from 12th February to 24th February, 2025, and Class XII HSSLC exams from 11th February to 7th March, 2025. According to official accounts, around 17,000 students had appeared in the Class XII board exam this year. The declaration of results is an important milestone on the academic schedule, paving the way for the students to map their future education plan, be it higher studies, vocational course or joining employment.

After declaring the results, the board has also laid out the schedule of when the formal documents will be dispatched. The marksheet and accompanying documents will be handed over to the centre superintendents between May 2 and May 6. These superintendents need to collect the documents from the board and provide them to schools within their domains. If in any case, the centre superintendent is not in a position to pick up the documents, the job can be handed over to an authorised agent. This structured method is designed to provide all students with their original marksheets in a timely and efficient process, with the board hoping that most distributions will be made within the first week of May.

The bi-annual publication of the NBSE board results not only maps the individual achievement of each student but also gives insight into more general patterns of educational performance across Nagaland. Last year, in the year 2024, there was a large gender-differential performance. Girls performed better than boys both in government and private schools. In government schools, girls’ pass percentage was 50.35%, more than the pass percentage of the boys, i.e., 46.07%. Likewise, in private schools, girls attained a passing rate of 89.02% compared to boys’ 84.33%. These figures do not just show the impressive academic achievement of female students at the state level but also suggest the increasing significance of gender-oriented educational interventions and policies that promote equal opportunity learning environments.

With the academic year coming to a close for students who sat for their board exams, the results are both an end and a beginning. For Class X students, the HSLC results confirm admission to higher secondary courses or vocational training courses. For Class XII students, the HSSLC results determine admissions to colleges, universities, or professional institutions, and in some cases, chart the course of their careers.

The NBSE also continues to stick to transparency and accessibility while conducting examinations and declaring results. Using digital platforms to make result announcements and coordination of document distribution, the board seeks to avoid delays and ensure efficient student support systems in the state. With marksheets being planned for release in early May and online result checking already initiated, the students are requested to keep a copy of the online scorecard until they get the official hard copy.

As yet another group of students progresses through their schooling, the NBSE results reveal not only academic achievements but also the commitment of students, schools, and families who have helped them achieve success in the face of changing learning challenges.
