In an effort to increase opportunities for economically weaker sections’ young people, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has extended the deadline for registration under the PM Internship Scheme 2025. The applicants now have until April 15 to register themselves via the official website, pminternship.mca.gov.in. The flagship government initiative aims to fill the gap between academic education and practical industry exposure, creating a skilled as well as job-ready workforce.

Initiated with the vision to empower India’s youth, the PM Internship Scheme is designed to provide a substantial platform for skill development. It provides internship opportunities in the top 500 companies in the country, offering not just practical experience but also financial assistance. By providing extra time for registration, the government wants to facilitate more young people, particularly from poor families, to take advantage of the opportunity to study, develop, and prepare themselves for a professional career.

The registration process is straightforward and entirely online. Applicants have to go to the official website, click on the registration link on the home page, and enter their personal and academic information. After being submitted, the portal automatically creates a resume for every candidate based on the entered details. The resume is then used as the foundation for applying to a maximum of five internships, chosen on the basis of the candidate’s preferred sector, location, functional role, and qualifications. The portal also provides a facility for saving the application forms for future use.

The PM Internship Scheme 2025 targets candidates who have passed Class X, Class XII, ITI, Polytechnic, or Diploma courses, and recent graduates from non-premier institutions. The eligibility is broad-based, seeking to include a wide range of educational backgrounds. For ITI candidates, the qualification required is Matriculation with subsequent ITI in the concerned trade. Diploma holders must have cleared the Intermediate level and then a diploma from an AICTE-approved institute. Degree holders must hold a Bachelor’s degree from a UGC- or AICTE-approved university. The age range for candidates is 18 to 24 years, with relaxation of age conditions for candidates falling under OBC, SC, and ST categories.

The program provides a 12-month internship that not only gives useful experience to actual work settings but also guarantees financial support for the interns. The participants will be entitled to a monthly stipend of Rs 5,000 along with a lump sum amount of Rs 6,000. This financial assistance is especially important for young people from poor families who otherwise might not have access to such programs. The scheme is expected to remove economic hindrances that hinder youngsters from getting internships, which can frame their future professional lives.

During the pilot launch, the government aims to provide internship opportunities to 1.25 lakh young people and study it closely in order to identify its effect and effectiveness. The government plans to create internships for one crore youngsters in the coming five years, which will make it one of the largest job-linked training initiatives in India. The eventual target is to establish a pool of skilled young men and women who are not merely theoretically capable but also practically empowered to meet changing workforce demands.
