The National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) has officially rolled out its much-anticipated recruitment notification for the year 2025, offering a golden opportunity to candidates seeking a career in the insurance sector. The recruitment drive aims to fill a total of 266 Administrative Officer (AO) positions across India. Interested candidates can submit their applications online through the official NICL website. The application window, which began on June 12, will remain open until July 3, 2025.
Out of the total vacancies, 170 positions are earmarked for Generalist Officers, while the remaining 96 are reserved for Specialist Officers. These specialist roles span various domains such as Finance, Legal, Information Technology, Automobile Engineering, and Medicine (MBBS). This broad spectrum of roles makes the recruitment accessible to a wide array of professionals with diverse academic backgrounds.
The application process includes the payment of a non-refundable application fee. For candidates belonging to the unreserved category, the fee has been fixed at Rs 1000. However, applicants from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) categories have been granted a concession and are required to pay only Rs 250. The fee must be paid online at the time of registration and is mandatory for all applicants.
Eligibility criteria for the post vary depending on the role applied for. Candidates interested in the Generalist Officer position must hold a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university. On the other hand, those applying for Specialist Officer roles must possess relevant qualifications corresponding to their field of expertise. For instance, Medical Officers should have an MBBS degree, Finance Officers must be Chartered Accountants (CA), and Legal Officers need an LLB qualification. Other specialist roles require similarly specific degrees or certifications.
Age is another important criterion in the selection process. Applicants must be at least 21 years old and no older than 30 years as of May 1, 2025. Age relaxation for reserved category candidates will be applicable as per government norms. Aspirants are encouraged to visit the official NICL website to thoroughly review the detailed eligibility conditions, including educational qualifications, age relaxations, and required documentation.
The recruitment process is structured into three phases. Phase I is the Preliminary Examination, scheduled to be conducted on July 20, 2025. Phase II is the Main Examination, expected to be held on August 31, 2025. The third and final stage involves a Personal Interview coupled with document verification. Only candidates who clear the preliminary exam will be allowed to appear for the main examination, and likewise, only those who pass the main exam will be called for the interview round. Admit cards for the examinations will be released shortly before the respective exam dates and will be available on the NICL website.
Upon successful completion of all three stages, a final merit list will be compiled based on the candidates’ performance in the main examination and the interview. This merit list will determine the final selection of candidates for appointment as Administrative Officers.
The selected candidates will receive a competitive starting basic salary of Rs 50,925 per month, aligned with the pay scale of Rs 50925-2500(14)-85925-2710(4)-96765. In addition to the basic pay, employees will receive various allowances and benefits, taking the total monthly compensation package to approximately Rs 90,000, particularly in metropolitan cities where cost of living adjustments apply.
NICL also offers a host of additional benefits that enhance the overall remuneration package. These include coverage under the New Pension Scheme (NPS), eligibility for gratuity, comprehensive medical facilities, leave travel subsidy, and group personal accident insurance. Moreover, candidates selected for the Medical Officer posts under the Specialist category will receive an additional Non-Practising Allowance (NPA) of 25% of their basic salary, subject to the prevailing regulatory guidelines.
This recruitment drive presents a valuable opportunity for aspirants aiming to build a stable and rewarding career in one of India’s premier public sector insurance companies.
